Hello. I am Mantis. [With that abrupt greeting comes an equally abrupt (and not at all awkward, really!) smile. She's trying. There's a bit of a pause here, as her smile fades a bit, to be replaced by a genuinely contrite expression.] I apologize. I know I have a hideous face. I will not show it here again. I wanted to meet all of you, though.

[And that means face-to-face, you poor unfortunate souls.]

Some of you have asked such interesting questions. I am afraid that I do not have any to ask of you. I wanted to meet you all and introduce myself. [Cue the friendly awkward smile again. She is getting better at it, at least.] Oh! Perhaps you could tell me something about yourself. [A pause, as she tries and fails to think of a more specific question. Then, a little defeated:] Anything at all will do, I suppose.

[She glances downward for just a short moment, uncomfortable and anxious at the attention she's calling toward herself. But it's just that: a short moment, easily mistaken for wandering attention, perhaps.]

[She laughs then at the image that conjures up for her.] I would probably fall on my head if I tried that.

Oh yeah? Takes a lot of balance! [He grins.] It's something I picked up when I was a kid. I knew a lot of people who could do it.

[uglybug]

You said that you do not do it, but that you can. Why do you not walk on your hands more often. It sounds like fun!

[melodiouspacifist]

Well yeah it can be, but if I did it all the time, I'd probably fall over a lot. [He giggles a little bit.]

I can only do it for so long. If you have good balance, you could try it. It's not that hard.

[uglybug]

Perhaps I could learn, then! [She's probably ridiculously over-excited over the prospect.] How did you learn?

[melodiouspacifist]

You can learn. [He smiles and nods encouragingly.]

It's probably easiest to use a wall. If you do a handstand and lean against a wall at first until you get your balance and then practice taking steps with your hands.

It takes practice though, and you'll fall a bit, but it's not too bad.

[uglybug]

Oh, that sounds doable. I should be able to start like that, yes. Thank you! [She sounds entirely too chipper for discovering that she can learn how to walk on her hands. It's like it's the best news she's heard all month.]

No problem, really. [He chuckles, it's nice she cares about such a silly skill.]

You might really have fun with it. What's something about you?

[He could ask about the antennae, but really, she's far from the strangest sentient creature he's met.]

Something about me? I do not even know where to start.

I thought of the most random thing I could, so try that!

[uglybug]

The most random thing? Oh. Um... [She's putting way too much thought into this.] I enjoy flowers but I have never tried to grow them.

[melodiouspacifist]

Hm, okay that's cool! I knew someone who liked that. I mean, he wasn't nice, but I guess flowers are.

I don't know how to grow them really, I know they need water and soil.
