Have any of you tried a fruit called the 'doreh'?

[It’s a brief question. Gaius addresses the network early in the morning, hopefully after people have eaten breakfast. There have been a few things on his mind for a while, so he might as well ask now before the network turns to death talk again.]

I spoke with one of the workers on Thesa before coming here, and he shared some with me. It’s a green fruit with several leaves, and it has a bumpy texture...you might have seen it before. When you slice into it, the juice is purple. It's delicious and tastes like honey and plum, but...if someone offers you the same fruit in a different color, you might want to be careful. I’ve heard the other colors of doreh have side effects that are...less than desirable.

[How ominous? He seems to know what’s going on, at least.]

With all the conversation topics we've had, I'd also like to ask...were you religious where you're from, or was your world religious? I've visited the temples here, and they're...unique. [It's so hard to pick just one word.] I've been thinking about my own faith...a lot changes when you end up on a different world, doesn't it?

[He pauses for a moment, and then shakes his head slightly.]

Haha...it sounds a little heavy when I phrase it like that, but I'm still interested in hearing about your worlds if I haven't lost you all yet.

uh, likewise :| also sorry.

Andraste is the mortal bride of the Maker, martyred in the Ancient Age. There are quite a few stories told about her, though the Chantry insists that any that propagate outside of its own rhetoric are untrue.

Let's see now. [He taps his chin.] The two most widespread are the Andrastian Chantry and the Qun, though the Qunari argue that it is a philosophy and not a religion. Of course, the ones who follow the Qun are more devoted, even fanatical, than even the most hard-line Andrastian I have ever met.

Then there are the Dalish, who follow the old Elven gods--what they know of them--and the Dwarves, who worship nothing but do revere their own ancestors. The Dwarven Paragons have no rules of morality to follow, however. Those are enforced socially, not theocratically.

Finally, there are the so-called barbarians: the Avvar, the Chasind, the Rivaini witch-seers...all of whom revere their own gods or otherwise worship the maker outside of what the Chantry considers proper.

[Wryly: ] Judging by how many people have asked me whether or not I'm an elf, I'd say that's fairly common. I don't suppose your people are sailors?

Really? Hm. My mother was a nomad as well.

[But enough about that.] At the moment, odd jobs. Sometimes a messenger, sometimes a porter. Strangely, I find myself with a great deal of free time. Have you seen the library yet?

Not really, no. I was born and raised in the city.

No, the Institute lets no one in who does not work there. But there's another one, available to the public. Supposedly, it is smaller but if that one is small, the mind boggles at how many books the Institute must have.
