No and no, by the look of it. But whether it'll dissuade them or not, it'll still detain them if it's anything like the law I know. Potentially try to kill them if it's a more rudimentary version. And then there's always vigilante justice, who knows how quickly that'll pop up in a place where everyone's chatting about killing their enemies three seconds into having a phone that works
And here I thought we'd reached the part where it's all peace and quiet from here on out.
[ Because that seemed like a long shot. Charles could believe that people will settle in eventually, but how they adapt and behave is most likely not to be the norm they're used to. ] I do hope we won't devolve into killing. I don't need that kind of headache.
From the vague skimming I did of pod plans, Darma's already put a veto on that, so that puts a stop to the immediate concerns. The fun comes when more people start waking up. Hopefully that veto extends to making murder on board a less appealing option or the stasis chambers are going to get ugly fast.
But yes. In general, here's hoping it's hot air.
[ he's somehow feeling less safe in that assumption than he was not so long ago ]
One or two names here or there. Mostly the notion of a list comes from seeing at least 5 people say "yes, there are people up there who should die immediately". Some of them have more than one. One way or another, things are going to take a very quick nosedive when some of the people in some of those pods wake up.
[ Charles massages his temple. He really didn't want to use his powers to avoid a situation like this, but he might have to. He won't go through another situation like he did in Cuba. ]
Perhaps Darma can intervene there if she knows the names. Make sure they awake in a safer location.
[ the more he looks into this entire mess the more he dreams of the innocent minutes before, writing this post, when it still felt funny ]
And if those people are the murderers and God knows what else these people say they are?
The best we can do is hope there's a decent prison around here somewhere. But even then, can't lock anyone up until they've done something wrong unless a group gets together who are interested in preventative justice, and I doubt anyone's going to support a safehouse, potential residents included.
Not as of yet. My experience is in catching criminals, not detaining them. At the very least we'll need numbers, people we can trust, the help of the Natha and the co-operation of the people with the enemies insofar as we can get it.
After that it's working out what sort of a model we want to work with. What's going to work best for us, best for the people we're making sure aren't killing/being killed. All of that.
I'm going to stress again how under-qualified I am to even be hypothesising about this.
I think we're all underqualified. But what matters is that we start somewhere instead of doing nothing. And I've never been a fan of sitting on my hands.

Yeah, me too. I don't think any of us do.

I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on them. If they're only discussing it, perhaps they'll be dissuaded not to carry it out.

[ And Charles would know. Immediately. ]
I doubt Darma would let anything happen to those stasis chambers.

Fingers crossed not. We could do with people not on the hit list not having to come face to face with fresh corpses on stepping out into Thesa.

Are people actually naming shady characters? I have yet to come across that.

I could feasibly do that. But I prefer communication and finding a middle ground.

Having the ability does not mean I'm predisposed to using it. Especially in order to keep people in check.

Suppose we'll have to do our best to come up with an alternative.

Do you have one in mind?
