002 - audio; un: mad-dog

[hannya]

[There's a bit of rustling and grumbling as Majima tries to set up his communicator; he doesn't use it as often as he should, so jumping back into a public posting has something of a learning curve. Finally, he clears his throat and gets down to business.]

So one crazy party made everyone on this planet real goddamn tense for the past few weeks. Thought they were used to that kinda thing.

Anyway, I don't really get this place's politics, but I do know it's been tough to get a place to stay in Olympia lately if you're livin' in Wyver. I don't really give a shit where you live, and I got an open couch, so if you need somewhere to crash for a day or two, I'm offerin'.

[He switches briefly to video, just to show the main room of his rather humble apartment, where a living room breaks off into a kitchenette. The only real decorations are an overflowing ashtray and a weird cookie jar on the kitchen counter.]

It ain't much, but you'll have it to yourself most nights. I work until last call. Just drop a line if you're interested. Er, only one person a night, obviously.

Oh, hush. You were perfectly fine. You're a tough man, don't whine.

But no, I've no interest in going after dragons this time. Bring some money, I'll have to find us a hotel.

[hannya]

I ain't whinin'. Just hedgin' my bets. [And teasing, more than anything else.]

If they'll let us check in, sure.

[She sounds dismissive. A beat, and then, wryly:]

And if they don't, we'll simply teleport in. That certainly worked well last time.

[hannya]

Doc, we had to leave.

Yes, but we got in, didn't we?

[hannya]

Tell you what. If that happens and we actually don't get caught, I'll pay ya what would have had to in the first place.

[originallutece]

Is that right?

[She laughs, pleased by that (not least of which because she's used to not having to pay for her trips to Wyver).]

And do you want something promised in return, or will the potential satisfaction of being right be enough for you?

[hannya]

When it's a bet against you? Probably, but you can match the money if you want.

It's a deal, then. If nothing else, it'll make up for the days you take off.

[hannya]

[Majima snorts.]

Depends on their rates. So don't pick a pricey place on purpose.

I'll pick what I like, thank you. You don't get to hedge a bet after you've made it.

[hannya]

We haven't shaken on it. Don't got it in writing, either.

Oh, please, we're not a boy's club. Do you want us to cut our hands and make a blood pact while we're at it?

[hannya]

[Majima can't help but laugh at how on the nose Ros doesn't realize she is.]

You speakin' from experience, doc?
