( the username might not be familiar to most, since it isn't used often and usually only with those that already know about who spider-man is. these are unusual circumstances, though, and require a little flexibility. )

( absolutely just ... puts that out there, like it's a perfectly normal name that no one should have questions about. )

usually this sort of thing isn't a team sport for me, but, hey. old spiders can apparently learn new tricks. or try? this is me, trying.

so i here i am on a midnight stroll at flona cove, i love me some romantic walks alone on the beach,
and to my astonishment just offshore there are what look like pirates (a few hats w feathers but what gave them away was the guy with the eye patch) making off like... well, pirates? i guess? with caches i know for a fact they didn't dig up
there's lots of these guys. 30 or more. and while i'm used to the solo thing, maybe this is more like a 2 person job.

any takers? and more importantly, how fast can you get here

not going to lie, sort of a guns blazing guy myself. sort of caters to my skillset. but we can give it a shot, part of the old spider/new tricks thing.

Well, you're not wrong about that. They're slower compared to me. [ which sucks, but what can they do.

it doesn't take lena long to search the meeting spot, her chronal accelerator will have a very dim light when she finally meets up with peter though. ]

( to be fair, most people would be slow compared to you, tracer...

when she arrives, it might seem like there's nobody waiting. that's not the case, it just takes him a moment to crawl down from his vantage point — he's been spying on the pirates from on top of a lighthouse. he clings to the wall, looking very much like a spider-man when he offers Lena a salute, face still covered with the distinctive mask. )

Nice to meet you in person, Ms. Oxton. Lena. Lena Oxton? What should we go with on a mission? Do you have a code name?

mouth agape, she's shocked at the sight of seeing peter. to think that he's literally on a wall and dressed up in a suit that can come across as a spider. it's like meeting a superhero from one of those super old comics she would see at stores here and there. ]

Tracer, if it's easier for you. Otherwise, Lena is just fine. [ but tracer is ten times cooler in her books.

at least when she's doing work like this. ]

( he absolutely looks like something that fell out of a comic book. sort of because he did, but shh. he's pretty serious about preserving his secret identity and the mask is a big part of removing his humanity... especially when his powers make him able to move so inhumanly. )

I'll go Tracer, just so none of these guys get your name. ( she's happy to be open, Spider-Man still worries.

he drops off the wall and stands up, and maybe he looks a little more normal that way. he points in the direction of the pirates, working along a dock. the cache they're emptying looks like it was blown wide open, and there's a few others scattered open along the beach. )

They've been slowing down. I think they're running out of cargo, so we've gotta move quick. The guy in the red coat with the best hat and the eyepatch? Seems like he's the one barking orders, captain or second in command, but I haven't seen anyone else. I think if we can get him the rest will be without as much direction, and it'll be easier to pick them off, one by one.

( he's been thinking about this, clearly. it's so weird, to actually think and not just run in and do. )

[ that's smart actually. it would suck it they tried to follow her home or something like that seeing she is living alone at the moment. but, that's a worry for another time. stepping closer to him, she turns her head to look at where he's pointing. ]

That's a good idea. Plus, they'll be pretty frazzled having one of them missing which will serve as a distraction, too.

( he nods. it's a decent plan, even if it is at least slightly dangerous. this work was dangerous though, wasn't it? just a part of the job. )

I can maybe take the top banana unless you think you'd be, uh, I was gonna say faster? But that seems on the nose.

You know, I might leave that to you. That way my chronal accelerator will get enough juice that I can zip around and grab the others.

[ she glances down at the dim, pulsing light that resides on her chest. ]

( he tilts his head, which honestly looks a bit creepy when the mask is on. the scientist in him is admittedly curious about her chronal accelerator... but now is certainly not the time.

so he nods, agreeing to the terms. )

I'm on it, partner. Let's make this happen. ( he offers her a fistbump. because obviously that is what you do in situations like this one. )

Let's go kick some pirate arse! [ there's one of her famous grins as she makes sure to give him a fistbump in return. it would be rude for her to leave him hanging and not to mention, this makes everything more exciting. ]

( that's fair. something embedded in your chest does require a bit of trust. considering he still feels the need to wear a mask around her, they've both got a little trust to work on...

though working as a team is a good start for trusting each other.

his smile is not as obvious, thanks to the mask, but between hers and the fist bump returned, he's definitely grinning underneath. maybe she can hear it when he agrees, )

They won't see us coming. ( between the two of them, this would be a cinch. )

[ giving him a friendly wink, lena whips out her pulse guns and will spin them around in her hand. she does like to show off when given the chance and seeing she has someone to try impress, now is the perfect time to do it.
