To be perfectly honest, such things are difficult for me to understand. My world was one where magic creatures like fairies and goblins were understood to exist, even by non-magical families who might never meet one in their lives. As far as types of magic, I suppose we only had the one, really, which we just called "magic." It was learned and honed over careful study and practice. I had a professor who developed a related field using technology, which she called "magitronics," but realistically, it was just a different application of the same magic I used.
