(no subject)

So many here tell of their closeness to their siblings, to the great joy that their siblings bring them. I could not agree more with such sentiment, for the richness that my own bring me has always far outweighed any great burden they've put on me (and some have put burden upon me indeed!).

But, in that great sentiment, I must say that I have put off announcing my own brother has indeed left, and so any friend he may have had here, I ask you make yourself known to me. My brother is Edmund Pevensie, and I should like to thank you, and ask you be my friend too.

And, if you did not know him, I would say, then meet me for my own sake. I am long in introducing myself, and I feel quite badly for the delay. I am Lucy Pevensie, and most grateful to make your acquaintance.

Rebecca.

I haven't seen her in a while— I mean, a while. On account of the war, and all.

[ The response is automatic: ] Not sir, just Bucky.

And yeah, the whole world was.

Well, not Switzerland.

[ No matter how many times he has this same conversation, it's still surreal. The war was the entirety of his adult life. Still— ]

You're from England, right?

[ Edmund had said he was British, but— not everyone has Britains that match up, he's learned. ]

Is that… somewhere north of London?

[ This is confusing! But he had been real shucked, so maybe that his memories weren't straight. ]

Bucky. [ He says in agreement. ]

Well, what's it like, then?

England is grey and rainy. Most of it, anyway. I think I'd rather be from where you are.

Well, I don't mind the cold so much. You wouldn't want summer all the time. You'd never get Christmas.

I wonder if we'll have Christmas here. [ He figures no, and it's the first time he's really figured. Christmas means a lot to him, for more than the usual reasons. ]

Me neither, 'til just now. It's funny, even during the war, we always had Christmas.

We oughta keep it going, then.

Of course. Anything for a lady. [ A pause. ] Betcha Edmund would like it, too.

[ And his own sister, Becca, wherever she is. ]

Well, first we gotta figure out when it is.

It was April, when I came here… but something tells me it wasn't April for everybody.

Huh. Maybe we oughta… wait until it's winter.
