So many here tell of their closeness to their siblings, to the great joy that their siblings bring them. I could not agree more with such sentiment, for the richness that my own bring me has always far outweighed any great burden they've put on me (and some have put burden upon me indeed!).

But, in that great sentiment, I must say that I have put off announcing my own brother has indeed left, and so any friend he may have had here, I ask you make yourself known to me. My brother is Edmund Pevensie, and I should like to thank you, and ask you be my friend too.

And, if you did not know him, I would say, then meet me for my own sake. I am long in introducing myself, and I feel quite badly for the delay. I am Lucy Pevensie, and most grateful to make your acquaintance.

[And meet they do. When he arrives she's already there, crouching near the entrance, feeding the sparrows that are coming closer and closer to her each time she gives over a little bit of birdseed.

She looks up when she hears his footsteps, and looks up.]

Hello, Byerly. I have missed you.

And I you, my lady.

[ He executes a gallant bow that's only perhaps 20% ironic - a very low proportion of irony for him. ]

It's a pleasure to see you well.

What lovely manners.

[She takes his hand, or rather, offers her own as she stands up, and shakes her skirts just a little.]

The pleasure is all mine, my lord emperor.

[ He takes her hand and places it in the crook of his elbow, gallant as any cavalier as he leads her forth. Hardly an ironic lift of his eyebrows in return for the title emperor. ]

How have you been occupying your time, dearest queen?

To be honest?

[She looks up at him, and squeezes his arm just a little.]

Do be honest with me always, yes.

Confused.

And crying, sir.

For the loss of your brother.

[ His voice is a little low. ]

Yes.

[And a pause.]

I think my heart is softer than I had imagined.

Did you fancy yourself hard and cruel, Your Majesty?

No.

[She shakes her head, no, no.]

I did not think myself cruel, or hard, but I thought-

[She covers her mouth. careful as anything.]

I thought it would not hurt so much.

Hm.

[ He's quiet a moment. ]

You have other siblings, no?

Oh.

Yes. A sister, and another brother.

Did it hurt less to lose Edmund than it has hurt to be without them?

[She looks slightly surprised, then.]

That is a most unfair question, sir.

[ He tilts his head slightly to the side. ]

My apologies, then.

[ But he doesn't take it back. ]

It hurt more.

To lose Edmund, I mean.

[She says it quietly.]

Because he was right here. He could hold me, and advise me, and help me.

Ah. I suppose it does make sense.

[ No more commentary than that. He walks on in silence a little while. ]

Jon Snow threw me in a river.

[She blurts that out quickly and suddenly]

[ Er. ]

He did what?

Ah.

He threw me in a river. When I...stole his clothes.

[This sounds worse and worse.]

Lucy, my dearest love, perhaps provide some context here.

We were in Wyver, looking for the items necessary for a merchant there, and he went swimming.

So I went to tease him by taking his clothes, and he caught me and threw me in the river.

[There's a pause.]

And then we were naked.

Dear heavens.

[ He gives a tiny snort of amusement. ]

Are you looking for my censure, dear Lucy?

Nothing happened!

[She says it suddenly, alarmed. And then she's blushing a bit.]

I thought something might. But nothing did.

And I would have told Edmund, if he were here, and he would have told me some great reason why nothing did. But he would have also possibly challenged him to some manner of duel, and I do not think you would do that.
