haha I dont know how to sew a cowboy hat! idk I could probably knit a beanie or something? my town is called uchiura! were just over the mountain from numazu its a little seaside village I love it there... the sea is so pretty every day I mean I guess I LOVED it since yknow its all gone

yellow + red, got it! and yeah, sorta like that I said we were out in the sticks right? so our school didnt have that many applicants and since it wasnt getting enough interest they were going to close it down and combine us with a school in numazu so we decided that wed try to save it! if we could do well in Love Live and make everyone realize how great uchiura is and how beautiful the sea is... maybe wed get some more applications, you know?

what's Love Live? some kinda game show?

yeah! literally trying to keep it open

haha its a little weird that there are people from other Japans who dont know Love Live
its so big where I come from!

its this big national competition of school idols! a lot of schools have school idol clubs, and they write their own songs and perform and get fans
and a lot of the voting is done online so even schools out in the sticks can participate!
thousands of schools enter every year and the finals are at Tokyo Dome!

school idol clubs? man, i haven't heard of those but they sound hella cute

so you're part of your idol club?
what was your group's name?

its really cute! Im in charge of the costumes and my friend Riko does the music and Chika writes the lyrics and our senpai Kanan does all the dance choreography there are nine of us in total, were called Aqours!

Aqours huh? i bet you guys have a lotta fans with such a cute name. but you must be hella busy doing all that and going to school

well were getting there! we made it to regionals which is pretty cool especially since our school is so small and in the sticks, since most of the other schools come from cities! our PV got a lot of views online which was pretty exciting youre not wrong about it being a lot of work though!

[He bets Mishima would eat this stuff up like crazy. He was the one that was more into idols than Ryuji was and here Ryuji was the one talking to an idol even if she was an idol in..training? He really didn't know what to call an idol club member.]

i mean a regular idol's job has to be hella hard, so it must be double the work since you're also a student. putting together a PV is a shitload of work too.

do you ever get any time to just, yanno, be a kid?

yeah its not THAT bad
I mean its pretty intense but

luckily one of the other members of the club is our senpai, the student council president
shes pretty strict about making sure we don't fall behind in schoolwork but she also helps tutor if we need it

seriously, is making us study a student council president's hobby or something?

yeah! she and her little sister are both in the club dia's pretty strict idk I dont think you get to become president of the student council without caring a lot about academics and wanting your classmates to do well besides if we got bad grades I dont think even mari could keep us from being punished we might even get kicked out of the club!

i mean i was already a pretty terrible student
it wasn't until i started hangin' out with makoto that i ever really even cared to study that much
it must be their job, i guess

well yeah if they werent into academic stuff they probably wouldnt be student council president haha so weve got one strict senpai, one pretty relaxed senpai (except for practice, she drills us pretty hard) and then idk how you'd even describe the third one she's kind of silly and over the top and super rich too i mean like whoaaaa her house is gigantic do you just know the one strict senpai or are you in a club with others?

[also what is it with there being a rich senpai?? Ryuji thought he was lucky to get to know Haru, but apparently it's a thing to know at least one rich person.

He's also really glad that this is over text and thus he can swallow his surprise when asked about a 'club.']

i know Makoto, the student council president, and Haru - she's into rooftop gardening. Makoto can be strict, but she's cool. Haru's really nice, but she packs a punch
