Hello, everyone.

[ a little wave from a man who's smiling happily enough - a bit subdued, perhaps, but that's to be expected given the subject matter. ]

It's been a tough month, eh? I just wanted to say a huge well done to those of you who fought for a cure - it's extraordinary that you were able to create one in the time you did from entirely foreign components. I'm glad that our hosts are recognising the effort.

Everyone else, well done to you, too. Whatever you were doing, this has been a stressful situation and you made it out the other side, and that's worth a pat on the back if you ask me.

Ah yes, ill-intended hugs. I've had a conversation in knife hugs already today, so I can understand the concern. But no, entirely innocent, I promise you.

Knife hugs? Well, I'm certainly well acquainted with those. They're awful. Especially at dinner parties. You would believe how many want to give me a knife hug at a dinner party.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if we all need a good hug after what's happened. Hopefully we can get back to some semblance of normal. Whatever that is now.

Normal here seems to be the ongoing process of adapting to the not very normal, so I don't think it'll take us too long. With any luck there'll at least be some time to catch our collective breath before the next reason to stock up on hugs.

So long as the next very not normal isn't a group of maniacs poisoning people, I'd be fine with that.

[ He sighs a little. He wonders how many people ended up perishing from that sickness...hopefully none if they were lucky. ]

I hope the next thing involves flowers. I'd welcome an explosion of flowers than...well what we had.
My optimism aside I don't believe we've met.
