[The poster on the network today is listed as anonymous -- but for anyone who has met him in person, they'll be sure to recognize his voice. He's not making an attempt at keeping a secret so much as making sure his name only goes out to those he wants it to. He's going by more than one these days, after all.]

[If someone listens carefully, they'll hear the sound of fire crackling in the background. Is he sitting by a campfire? Strange, it seems a little early in the day for that.]

I do hope everyone is having a lovely morning! Or at the very least, I hope you're all fairing better than I am at the moment. You see, I'm having something of a demon problem, and was wondering if anyone might be able to assist me in taking care of it! Naturally, I wouldn't be asking for anyone to help me for free.

[Something shatters in the background, and there's a good minute or two of silence. When he returns, his voice is as calm and unflappable as before... but it's probably good no one can see the face he's making.]

I'm currently in need of a large amount of holy water, but I'm afraid I'm rather incapable of producing it myself. I already know the proper rituals of course, but typically only someone of a certain caliber of purity or faith is capable of imbuing the water with the right properties. [And, ya know, not being a demon helps.] If there are any holy men, priests, priestesses, monks... ah, or even someone of particularly devout faith of any sort who would be willing to assist me, I'd be more than happy to return the favor in whatever way you see fit! ☆

That is, assuming the end result is successful. I'm afraid I don't have the resources to reward you on effort alone! Ah, and of course: serious inquires only, please.

[Truth be told, he was waiting for this shoe to drop at some point, but. Ugh. Just ugh. uuuuuuuuuuugh. You can't see his face either, but by the tone of his voice, he's wearing one of Those Expressions.

Political strife and now demons wreaking havoc? This place is sounding homier by the day.

It certainly has its charm, doesn't it?

[Man, take the plague out of the equation, and he'd agree with that at face-value.]

But as luck would have it, I'm rather accustomed to dealing with such things back home. If anyone else were in this situation, I'm certain they'd be at a bit of a loss for how to deal with it.

[Yeah, for him, even the plague belongs on that list. Ah, Thedas. He's not quite sure he misses all aspects of you.

Oh, you, too? Though I'm afraid if it's the sort of demon you can't stab, I will be of little help.

The incorporeal ones are such a hassle.

Oh, he's very stab-able! But I imagine doing so would accomplish little more than pissing him off.

In any case -- I'm not looking to exorcise him so much as rein him in a little. Surely you've seen how some of the sick have become, yes? Those violent hallucinations are no walk in the park when the patient is someone of considerable power.

What do you propose?

I believe I already made my proposal. At the moment, all I need are large quantities of holy water to deal with the side effects of his little "outbursts".

Ah, but if you'd like to volunteer to hold him down while he's covered in flames capable of reducing everything they touch to ashes in an instant -- by all means! I imagine I'd be saving quite a bit of money on rope!

[Disclaimer: This is a job literally nobody can do.]

I doubt very much that's a thing that anyone here can do. And alas, I'm not pure enough to provide.

Not by any measure I can think of, anyway.

Not that I was expecting many here to have retained their faith, considering the circumstances... I'm sure nothing blows a bible verse out of the water like a little divine intervention in the form of extraterrestrials seeking to save everyone from the apocalypse.

Faith, yes; though it matters little, in the long run. It's my virtue that is...somewhat lacking. And our circumstances certainly led me to question a great many things.

I could try it. I am a knight of the code! While I do not claim to be pure, I would give it my all. Or if all else fails, I will help you smite the demon so it does not harm anyone. And you need not reward me or do any favors for me. Doing the right thing and helping out is more than reward enough!

[Please hold while Mephisto mutes the audio so he can laugh at SMITE THE DEMON.]

[When he comes back, he's still chuckling a little. Goodness, there really are all sorts of people in this place.]

Fufu... my, how gallant! However, I'm afraid there's no need for any smiting [snort] today. The demon in question is not one I am attempting to exorcise. He's a refugee just like the rest of us -- and has fallen to some of the more serious symptoms of this little plague going around.

The holy water is simply a means of cleaning up the "mess" left by his little outbursts.

[ Excuse. Smiting is totally how you deal with demons, right? Right! Still, it's not too hard to tell from the tone of his voice that Reinhardt had been totally serious about that. ]

I see. I didn't know. You said you had a demon problem. In all the stories, this is not a good thing and must be met with swift and righteous justice, before they can hurt many many innocent people.

But if this demon is a victim too, then, there is only one thing for it. I will do what I can to help you. Even if I must go and find the priests of this place and have them bless water for you. Do you think a bath tub full would be enough or will I need to find a lake?

Oh, but faith isn't necessarily dependent on one's virtue! That is, if one is to believe that morality is relative and not universal. After all, what is virtuous to one set of beliefs may be heresy to another.

And considering the sheer variety of worlds and cultures represented here, it's quite possible that you and I have very different ideas of what it means to be virtuous.

[A lake... oh no, he's picturing it. Just throwing Rin in a goddamn holy lake.]

[M-Mutes the audio to giggle. Who is this guy??]

Well, you're certainly not lacking in enthusiasm! If you can find a priest in this world capable of blessing holy water potent enough to help, I would be most appreciative! I've already tried a number of shamans, but with most of them busy formulating the cure for the disease, they haven't exactly had the free time to bless a few dozen gallons of water for me.

[So probably more than a bathtub... a lake might be overkill, though. Funny as it would be.]

Ah, naturally you'll have to forgive me for keeping the details rather vague. For the sake of his privacy, I can't give away too many specifics over such a public forum.

[Based on the other conversations he's getting the distinct impression that this is not an entirely serious inquiry.]

I have never heard of demons before. The only sacred water I knew of back home was a pool of special water said to be inhabited by the moon and water spirits.

Water blessed by the spirits, hm? If something like that existed here, I wonder how it would work.

[It'd be hard to say, really. Just because something is inhabited by a spirit doesn't make it holy.]

Ah, but it's possible you may know of similar beings then, if you come from a world inhabited by spirits! Though I know them as demons, they're functionally very similar to what others may refer to as angels, spirits, or even gods.

There are people who can manipulate water who are referred to as waterbenders. Some of these waterbenders are able to heal using water, and supposedly the water from the spirit oasis can heal more severe injuries.

Your reward is a favor? That's not much compared to cold hard silver.

[ Dazai sighs a little. ]

Especially when you're taking about interfering with something on a rampage.

[ He doesn't even go here - not in terms of morals or holy professions. But, someone as conniving as Dazai might be able to scrounge up help, if the reward is high enough to be worth splitting. ]

Now now, I never said financial compensation wasn't an option! I merely suggested that whoever can provide me with what I need is free to choose whatever form of compensation they would prefer.

Naturally, silver is also an option, provided the final product is potent enough to serve my needs. I don't have any use for third-rate holy water sold by some seedy snake-oil salesman.

When you put it like that, it actually sounds like something worth my attention.

[ Still, it's not a valid business transaction if you don't know what your trouble is worth. ]

Or should I suppose you're going to 'blank check' this little deal - if the volunteer doesn't die in the process of delivery?

Healing water, hm... well, I can certainly see the benefit to such a thing! But magical properties alone don't imply holiness. There are plenty of demons who use and manipulate water as well, after all.

[It was always so interesting to hear how similar concepts could exist in different worlds in such different ways.]

However, Holy water is simply water that has been blessed and imbued with mild spiritual power. The blessing typically comes from a priest or trained exorcist, who uses holy verses and a certain ritual to change the properties of the water.

Of course, to an ordinary person, it would be no different from simple tap water. But even a simple splash of holy water is often enough to repel a demon, or even burn their flesh.

[He laughs. Oh, he likes you. He probably shouldn't, but he does.]

Questions of virtue aside, I've never tried making holy water and if we're being wholly honest, I'm only guessing from context at what that is.

Goodness, I'd certainly hope no one would die over a little holy water! It rather negates the purpose of using it to save lives if one dies simply in the process of delivering it.

[He's not exactly asking anyone to fight Rin for him here, even if he's kinda keeping it a little vague.]

Hmm... but considering my own needs, I'd say 200 silver would be an appropriate amount for high-grade holy water. The potency is key, of course. The stronger the blessing, the less is actually needed to be effective! When even a fine mist is enough to burn the flesh of a demon, you know the potency is high.

Anything weaker than that would be far too inconvenient to be of much use. But seeing as these are desperate times, I might be able to spare 50 silver for mid-grade holy water. You'd need at least a liter to equal even a drop of the the more potent variety.

It's just as the name implies! It's simply water that has been blessed in some way or another. Typically, the water is imbued with the spiritual energy of the one performing the ritual, and it can be used to repel that which would be considered evil in the eyes of user.

To an ordinary person it would be no different from tap water -- but to something like a demon, the water would boil instantly on contact, burning their flesh and weakening them.
