So, now that we've gotten the world's-- sorry, the universe's biggest trust fall known to man and not-man, I think it's time we start popping the question. The real question. No hypotheticals, no, excuse me, [Dorian voice turning a pitch higher in imitation of... someone? Who knows. This is probably the collective voice of all of you. It's incredibly inaccurate.]

If I had the chance, I'd do it! They're a bad person! They killed hundreds of people, or... or one time they looked at me funny and they had shiny things galore! [ahem] We've all had drama against one another, with no real way of proving they're a terrible person other than the game of he said, she said, so! Let's get straight to it, shall we?

Have you, yes, you, killed someone or... something? Poof, gone, light left their eyes if they have them, turns out they're dead forever or it's like a five-minute deal. Whatever have you; it still counts if they stopped breathing.

If yes, why? Should we all expect a knife in our back? Get electrocuted to death? Be made to walk off a cliff? What are the qualifiers for this sort of thing, really? Personal vendettas? OR... perhaps you were playing the hero. [the deets, give the sweet deets.]

If no, well... I didn't think that far ahead, truth be told. You're more than likely surrounded by murderers, so... what's... a food you miss? Murderers can probably answer this as well, perhaps we'll find some sort of connection. [or, like, just listen to how many people you met have killed someone? have fun with that.]

Heard of the Antivan Crows? Well, of course. Have a habit of mopping up their members rather than just their mistakes, if I recall correctly. Did they give you a pass from the knife because the Wardens were still important back then?

Not as such, no. They did eventually find me--which went poorly for the one who volunteered to take my head--and I'm not sure Master Ignacio didn't send them our way. It just took a while for our paths to cross again.

After Denerim, I stayed for the coronation and wedding, then I was on my way. Ended up in Kirkwall, briefly, before all of...that mess went down.

Kirkwall was always a bit of a shithole, before and after. There's a number of them from the place, and one of them doesn't find me all that desirable. Me! Undesirable!

Now, if my assumptions are correct... you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say Inquisition, do you?

It was, ah... It was going, and it went. An archdemon was just a really powerful dragon, the bad guy couldn't do anything without the dragon... End scene.

Hole's still in the sky, though. Bit of reminder of how much we aren't supposed to touch ancient elven artifacts.

It rather begs the question of why anyone thinks fiddling about with any sort of ancient magic artifact is a good idea, regardless of origin. [a beat.] Or with dragons.

Imagine a world where when one comes upon a mysterious bit of ancient flotsam and doesn't think to themselves, "Ah! Surely this will make me powerful beyond all measure!"

Is it too much to ask for that to happen? Just once?

Oh, yes. What would we be if we didn't have an unnatural disaster every few years? Certainly not Thedas!

I don't have any hopes that we will ever create a world someone will not get their hands on a previous unknown to the world magical artifact. We would have to find all of them before they come into the wrong hands, and fate simply does not work that way.

On the contrary. There are apparently worlds where such a thing as magic does not exist. A curious thought.

Of course, it would be just as likely for there to be mysterious bits of dangerous, non-magical flotsam in those worlds, one would assume.
