[ Cheryl is sick. despite that, she's done her hair and makeup and dressed herself in a red silk robe. a lot of effort went into her appearance, but it does little to hide the fact that she's unwell. she looks tired. at home she was a pro at snapchat, and she holds the camera out at arms length. all that's missing is the puppy filter! ]

By now you've all heard of the great tragedy that's befallen us. I was caught right in the middle of everything, an innocent bystander in someone's very cruel plan to shake us all to the core. I don't scare easily and I don't wilt, but I could use your help in this trying time.

First: obviously i am confined to bed until I recover. You can entertain me by chatting with me and telling me your stories. Make sure they aren't boring.

And secondly: If you're able-bodied, perhaps you can avenge me. [ she pauses. smiles. ] Us. It's the right thing to do.

Okay.

At home, Jason was dating Polly Cooper. The Blossoms and the Coopers have hated each other since Riverdale was founded, and both sets of parents refused to allow them to continue their Romeo and Juliet romance. They broke up and the story was that Polly completely freaked out and had to be sent away. Later we found out that Polly was pregnant.
Jason wanted to run away with Polly, and he asked me to help. On the morning of July 4th we went to Sweetwater River and said goodbye. We had a plan that we'd row across the river to drop Jason off on the other side, and then I'd overturn the boat and shout for help. When people came to rescue me, I told them I'd dropped my glove and the boat overturned when Jason reached down to get it, and then he was swept away by the current.

They would all think he'd drowned, and he'd call me when he was safe with Polly away from Riverdale.

[ As Peter knows, that's not how the story ends. ]

If Jason had made it to Polly? Every day.

[ that's... obviously not what Peter meant but is anyone surprised? ]

( thats actually kinda cute, Cheryl. you could have wished for Jason to never leave, or for him to never get into it with Polly. instead you wish for him to get to the happy ending he never got. )
