[ Cheryl is sick. despite that, she's done her hair and makeup and dressed herself in a red silk robe. a lot of effort went into her appearance, but it does little to hide the fact that she's unwell. she looks tired. at home she was a pro at snapchat, and she holds the camera out at arms length. all that's missing is the puppy filter! ]

By now you've all heard of the great tragedy that's befallen us. I was caught right in the middle of everything, an innocent bystander in someone's very cruel plan to shake us all to the core. I don't scare easily and I don't wilt, but I could use your help in this trying time.

First: obviously i am confined to bed until I recover. You can entertain me by chatting with me and telling me your stories. Make sure they aren't boring.

And secondly: If you're able-bodied, perhaps you can avenge me. [ she pauses. smiles. ] Us. It's the right thing to do.

[ and as she ends the video: ] Hashtag Olympia Strong. [ yes, that's right. hashtag. this is Cheryl Blossom, after all. ]

Tired, mostly. A little annoyed at being confined to bed to avoid getting another lecture.

[ to say nothing of everything else, but downplaying the extent of it has been easier than acknowledging she's temporarily out of commission and forced to the sidelines. ]

You're the only other person I know that's infected, actually. It's a little weird that the symptoms aren't anything worse than what someone would get a flu if that bomb was supposed to be a weapon against us.

[sweetwater]

Yet. It's a flu now, but it's only been a few days. Maybe we don't get better. Maybe we get worse. [ Cheryl's suspicious, okay?? she knows it's unlikely but what's the point of giving strangers the flu? ]

[obstinance]

They'll find a cure, Cheryl. They have to.

[ considering her tone, it's clear she believes that adamantly. thinking otherwise isn't an option, not if she wants to keep her sanity about her. ]

We won't let the people who did this get away with it, either.

[sweetwater]

[ she nods. she supposes she feels a little better. ]

What kind of punishments do you think they hand out here?

[obstinance]

Most of the punishments I've seen or heard about have just been prison time.

[ the royal guard gives some insight to that, at the very least. with that said — ]

But I wouldn't surprised if they condemn anyone involved to an execution.

[sweetwater]

[ she smirks. it's a little unsettling, but Extreme runs in her blood. ] Far be it from me to stand in the way of justice.

[obstinance]

[ cheryl blossom: extra extraordinaire. clary, for her part, doesn't look too unsettled. cheryl, in comparison to most of what she's witnessed, seems fairly harmless. ]

I can't say I disagree with you on that.

[ #team extreme. ]

[sweetwater]

Do you think they'll attack again? [ not that Cheryl is going to be out in public to risk being hurt, but it's still a concern. what about Peter? ]

[obstinance]

Not if they're smart. Everyone is hellbent on tracking anyone with those tattoos down from what I can see. Attacking again is just asking to get caught.

[ they seem to be shrewd, at any rate, but she wisely leaves that addendum out. ]

You don't have anything to worry about except getting better.

[sweetwater]

[ she sighs. Clary is right, but laying around and waiting isn't doing anything to dampen her curiosity. ]

You're right. There's plenty of people working to take care of it.

[obstinance]

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get your chance to punch one of them in the face eventually.

[ not the best tactic to cheer someone up, arguably, but she's trying. that sigh, at the very least, gives her the motivation to deter them both from that line of conversation. ]

What kind of stories do you want? I'll see if I have any memories that aren't totally embarrassing.

[sweetwater]

The embarassing stories are usually the best ones. [ but, fine. ] Alternatively: what were you doing before the storm? What do you remember?

[obstinance]

[ that question is marginally worse than any embarrassing stories she has on hand. she gives a considerable pause, evidently taken off-guard and considering her options. ]

I was in a fight with my father. Not exactly a happy story.

[ i killed my father or the man i loved was killed in front of my own eyes would be more honest, but discussing that is — the farthest thing either of them need right now. ]

But I can tell all about my embarrassing childhood.

[sweetwater]

[ oh hey they have that in common! but maybe that's a discussion for a better time. ]

Were you an awkward, weird kid?
