1 🕷 TEXT
[ username: beaker ]
( it's taken him awhile to build up the courage for this one. he wants to make this idea happen, yet a part of him wonders if he's the right guy for the job. without Clark he'd floundered a little, yet the need for a stable medium for sharing information remains, so here he is.
he waffled over voice, video, and text. in the end, he goes for text, because it makes him seem less nervous. maybe. though anyone that's texted him before might notice the difference — all the capital letters and punctuation, for example. lazy texting doesn't work when you're trying to convince people you want to put together a newspaper. )
Hey. Hello. I'm Peter, and I was thinking...
So back home, I worked at a newspaper. Not The New York Times or anything, but a paper, and it feels like we could use something like that here. Stories about what is going on in Olympia, or Thesa, or anywhere that people might need to know about. Classifieds, updates, tips for finding work and accommodations, sharing... anything and everything, really, because we're all starting over, here, and we've got to help each other.
I've got lots of ideas. Maybe you've got some, too. Either way, I can't do this by myself. If you have experience in journalism, or just writing, and you want to help out, then let me know.
I can't pay you. Gotta be upfront about that. But maybe that'll change? I dunno. Money or not, it'd help a lot of people. If that's worth it to you, then let me know if you're interested, and what you'd like to do. Questions, too, I guess, though I can't answer everything yet. It's kind of all up in the air until I know who I'm working with.
Yeah. That's it. Thanks for your time.
( ...okay, not a #nailedit, but... it could have been worse??? )

( he could relate, only he can't because he can't explain why his boss hated him and simultaneously required he take a bunch of pictures of himself to pair with articles about how much he sucked. again I couldn't make this shit up. )
can you even charge your old one? if so i am impressed.
( of course peter has found a way to charge his, how else will he listen to voicemails left by his dead loved ones? also how much is clary going to hate him when she realizes he absolutely does not wear his glasses for a reason? )
what are you talking about? we gotta work on your idea of news

[ It's Complicated. alec is family now, regardless of the clashing views they have. thankfully he wouldn't want any photos of her to write articles about how much she sucks... that's done in person, like a true adult. ]
don't be that impressed. i'm not the one that got it charging again.
[ a lot, because now she won't have a go-to excuse when he mistakenly compliments her. ]
i'm talking about what's either terrible eyesight or, the more likely outcome, a different redheaded friend with multiple personalities you haven't introduced me to yet.

( she's either lucky or unlucky to have someone she knows from home. hard telling when it's a boss that may or may not like her, though. for his part peter isn't exactly hoping J. Jonah Jameson is the next one to wake.
being called out for implying clary is attractive is unexpected, because while he can't argue that it isn't true, he's surprised even himself by saying it without thinking. this is the sort of thing he tries very hard not to think about. he would deny it and should deny it because there is only embarrassment to come from this but is she joking in her refusal to agree or is she actually serious? )
i... no, you are the... obviously i meant you.
( perfect. affirm she's the cute one without having to repeat it out loud! #nailedit )

a permanently grumpy kind of thing. he's here — you'll know him if you see him. tattoos, taller than a tree, black hair, a lot of leather, obnoxiously good cheekbones.
[ pretty boy, as magnus had called him. not an outlandish descriptor for alec if not for the emotionally constipated expressions. ]
okay, got it. i'll change my piece to your horrible eyesight. you must be mistaking me for beaker.
[ beaker, who also happens to be a redhead. coincidence? ]

well im not sure how many people will fit that description so i will probably know if i see him around. hes still your boss, even here?
( peter knows more about what that entails than he can admit, actually..... whoops. still, he hadn't realized that shadowhunting had followed her here. )
youre kidding, right?
( finally he's hit the breaking point, wondering if she's making another joke or genuinely denying the insinuation she's attractive. he should take the freebie and get out of this conversation, but seriously, that makes no sense, Clary. )

[ butting heads is to be expected, even so. still, it's a far cry from defying and distrusting one another at every corner like it once was. it doesn't count as being her boss here, not truly, but alec's always been better at leading and directing than most shadowhunters she's known. ]
uh, half and half?
[ half joking meaning she doesn't genuinely believe his eyesight is that terrible, the other half being that she's not the type to think much of herself in a lot of aspects. get used to it, peter. ]

( he's glad she's got someone from home, even if it's a tsundere. it has to make all this easier.
as for the rest of it... )
lets just... forget i said anything.
( BC CLEARLY THATS BETTER FOR BOTH OF THEM. )

already forgotten
[ escaping this conversation is a tactical maneuver at this point. ]

peter, for his part, is too embarrassed to even respond to the agreement to forget that he said she was hot, so he says nothing. may he just die now and never think of this painful moment again. )
