001: video. un: MagicMan

[ Settled into a corner of one of the smaller cafes that dot the Entertainment District, David sips on a mug of something warm and fragrant as he works on gathering his thoughts. He’s still wearing Cassian’s jacket, which he’s yet to return, but otherwise seems to be in good spirits despite a small lizard-like creature doing its best to gnaw on his fingers. ]

So, I figure this might be a shot in the dark — or maybe I’m better off looking around the Station — but I was wondering if there was any information available on the local celestial bodies, constellations, charts, that kind of thing.

It’s been awhile since I studied.

[ Years, honestly, but anything has got to be better than sitting around at the starter housing, twiddling his thumbs and waiting for inspiration to strike. That and there was a lot to be learned from things like this, from the names and the stories people spun around their stars and planets. ]

Don’t want to get rusty.

David; I probably should have mentioned that earlier but it slipped my mind. Nice to meet you, Lucy.

So, tell me more about the stars of your world. What kind of songs did they sing?

[illuminescent]

Do you know that music that if you listen to it, you cannot help but close your eyes and dream awake?

[immeasurably]

I do, indeed. [ There's a definite smile as he says it, the kind of smile that crinkles the corners of your eyes; warm and genuine. ]

The kind of thing you can hear once and never forget as long as you live.

[illuminescent]

Yes! And so you do understand!

[immeasurably]

[ Maybe he does, after all — at least a little. Lucy does have a way of speaking about it, though. A kind of whimsy that he thinks he likes very much. ]

Guess it's easy to forget sometimes. Where I'm from people don't talk about stars, singing or otherwise.

[illuminescent]

Is it because where you're from, the stars are cold, like the ones here?

[immeasurably]

Some of them, I think.

Some of them are just shy.

[illuminescent]

I do hope so.
