[ This has been an emotionally draining few weeks for Rin. He notes how tired she just even though she refused to outright display any weakness in front of him. Kirei is fully aware that her title of sixth head of Tohsaka family has forced her to keep contact with him -- and by extension, Jeanne Alter.

As her legal guardian, he is aware he should do something to lower her unease and stress.
Yes, he could buy her some small trinket with the small amount of silver he has acquired. It would help to ease the tension between them a marginal some but still --

Or, he could buy something he knows she is obligated to take that purposely puts stress on her. Yes, he knows what he is going to do, but likes pretend there was another option. ]

Pardon me, everyone. I am attempting to buy a gift for one of my housemates, as it were.

I have only ever bought her gifts for birthdays and holidays and so I have no idea what to get for a 'just because.' Normally, I would think a new cellphone would be a kind gift but... well, I doubt I will find that here. In any case, what would be best?

For a young woman, I believe a dagger would work best. It's simple in its intent and design. What do you think?

Depending on the size and style? Appropriate. Easy to hide depending on her clothing style. Less likely to attract too much attention unless she's brandishing everywhere.

Puts her closer to any danger, but that also counts toward a good defense if it comes to it.

I wonder if I have enough silver for a simple dagger of that sort. Well, if it is a small blade, it most likely will not cost much, hm? Granted, that would make things more difficult since that means that she has to be closer to her opponent.

That certainly doesn't make me pleased as her guardian.

Don't get her something cheap - save the money and do it right. And if someone is that close to her they deserve what they get.

I see no reason to get impractical gifts. All they do is take up space and clutter the room.

Try a new outfit instead. It's not like we arrived with anything but the clothes on our backs.

[ He wonders if he can find the ugliest 30-silver outfit. Probably. Bargain bins have to exist in this world. But at the same time, he humors the idea of a dagger. It would be somewhat poetic and ironically hilarious. Oh, the choices that he has. ]

So, my choices are saving up for a dagger or spending what I have on a new outfit. Both of which are rather practical all things considered. The jacket which I came in is already in partial tathers.

You do not have to go for a full outfit. Start with a piece and let her earn the rest herself. Unless she's a small child she should be capable of doing for herself in some form.

No more difficult than for anyone else. I'm sure some might have found an easy way to through the ranks but it always shows in the end.

The inept are always found out. It only is unfortunate when it is in ranks such as yours since it means their weakness and ill-fit is usually only found after bloodshed. [ A beat. ] So you could say it was no more difficult than anyone else, but I doubt that it is. You humble yourself, and there is no need.

Considering our country was at, or on the verge of war since it was founded, bloodshed isn't really an indicator of much. [And please, there's no such thing as a humble Armstrong.] I assure you I am not. Unless you think my being a woman made it more difficult for me?
