[ This has been an emotionally draining few weeks for Rin. He notes how tired she just even though she refused to outright display any weakness in front of him. Kirei is fully aware that her title of sixth head of Tohsaka family has forced her to keep contact with him -- and by extension, Jeanne Alter.
As her legal guardian, he is aware he should do something to lower her unease and stress.
Yes, he could buy her some small trinket with the small amount of silver he has acquired. It would help to ease the tension between them a marginal some but still --
Or, he could buy something he knows she is obligated to take that purposely puts stress on her. Yes, he knows what he is going to do, but likes pretend there was another option. ]
Pardon me, everyone. I am attempting to buy a gift for one of my housemates, as it were.
I have only ever bought her gifts for birthdays and holidays and so I have no idea what to get for a 'just because.' Normally, I would think a new cellphone would be a kind gift but... well, I doubt I will find that here. In any case, what would be best?
[ Unless someone knows something he does not. ]

This voice certainly sounds familiar. [ Honestly, if it were those of his world that knew him, he wouldn't be surprised by the snarky comment. Yet it isn't and so that narrows the pool down a little. ] Did my commentary at the beach upset you so much? I'd offer some apology for it, but I meant what I said. Still, have you been stewing over it?

Oh, good. [ It's sarcastic, even if Duo's the one that started this little conversation himself. He can't help but to be an inflammatory little shit from time to time, and with Heero gone there's even less people to occupy his spare time with, really. So now it comes down to poking the priest, and probably being more than slightly assumptive. Sometimes the braided pilot just can't help himself, even if he really ought to start. ]
Nah, guys like you don't stick in my craw any or I'd have a line of guys who'd I'd be thinking about in their graves years later - [ The problem with being an oft captured terrorist - ] - but I'm just kinda goin' on assumption here that they might like something relaxing and away from the monologues.
Call me a savant or somethin' later, ok?

I merely wasn't expecting it to happen so soon.

Don't recall claiming I was a good listener ever... [ In fact he's pretty damn horrible when he doesn't want to listen, which means... no, he didn't listen at all Kirei. Mainly because his gut reaction to priest that isn't Father Maxwell is to shut down his ears and move along for the day. ]
What're you on about now?

Dude you don't even know me, come on... [ So far as the not being a sinner thing. He's pretty sure at least a hundred murders on his own makes him a pretty damn big sinner, but there's no way he's admitting to that kind of thing on here, much less to this guy.
God knew how many hail marys he'd suggest then! ]
Anyway, on that coin there isn't much to really publicize on here, but I doubt anyone else really wants to listen to your speeches all that often either. I need like, cliffnotes.
Footnotes. Blurbs.

A human being that doesn't want to hurt others is a person that wishes to change their future. The shackles that you've given yourself are taken off by this word from the ordained. And so, the one above and myself view you no longer a sinner. The rest shall be up to you. That shall be enough penance. [ This is something that he said to someone else, but he enjoys it. A good saying, as far as he is concerned. ]
I cannot do much about a wandering mind that retains nothing that it dislikes. [ A chuckle. ] I am not a miracle worker. That is the person that I am working for, young man. And so if you missed everything that I said, the one I ams speaking for did not.

Well at least you realize that much. [ He's never going to go to a confessional again in his tiny little life if he can possibly help it, okay? And he feels no need to have a deep chat with a priest about murder and treachery, lying and cheating, all of those things that a good little church kid isn't supposed to do if he wanted to make his way to the pearly gates.
Still, there's an audible, entertained snort as he continues, a little low laugh. ] Buddy, I'm not the one who said I didn't want to hurt people anymore. I don't have problems with fighting and the rest. Gives me something to do, really. If I have to break a few fingers to et what I need that ain't something I'm too squeamish for.
Dude, God doesn't exist. I guess if that lets you sleep at night you gotta do what you gotta do but like... the "big dude upstairs" isn't a real thing.
no subject
That is your opinion. Mine is that he exists. It doesn't make it easier to sleep to know that he is there, though. I suppose that is Catholic guilt talking, however. [ Minor jesting about what a fucker he actually is. ] As I told you before, it's easier to not believe than it is to believe.
no subject
Yeah, but soldiers generally follow someone other than one guy and themselves, buddy. [ You know, they love that whole being bossed around thing. Not so much with Duo, of course, but that pretty much went without saying by now. As much as he didn't mind working with the other pilots, he chafed under orders he couldn't really agree with, and didn't see that changing any time soon. ]
Oh, God, you're a Catholic priest too? [ Welp. That just made this whole thing a little bit bigger of a pill to swallow, really. He's bad at this and bad at being a good person if he's honest. ]
Is it, though? Not having some random big guy in the sky to rely on or blame all your issues on?
no subject
[ Inaudible shrug. ] I am.
It is. As I see it, there are plenty of people that blame other people for their issues. So if you are calling it easier because people don't blame something... I fear that is a poor argument. [ A chuckle. ] People are going to blame other people no matter the circumstances of their faith or lack there of, young man.
But... we will go in circles with this. So we shall end this problem here, yes?
