[ This has been an emotionally draining few weeks for Rin. He notes how tired she just even though she refused to outright display any weakness in front of him. Kirei is fully aware that her title of sixth head of Tohsaka family has forced her to keep contact with him -- and by extension, Jeanne Alter.
As her legal guardian, he is aware he should do something to lower her unease and stress.
Yes, he could buy her some small trinket with the small amount of silver he has acquired. It would help to ease the tension between them a marginal some but still --
Or, he could buy something he knows she is obligated to take that purposely puts stress on her. Yes, he knows what he is going to do, but likes pretend there was another option. ]
Pardon me, everyone. I am attempting to buy a gift for one of my housemates, as it were.
I have only ever bought her gifts for birthdays and holidays and so I have no idea what to get for a 'just because.' Normally, I would think a new cellphone would be a kind gift but... well, I doubt I will find that here. In any case, what would be best?
[ Unless someone knows something he does not. ]

[ That should explain the situation enough. ]
I believe I'll hold off coming across romantic. A book might be something worthwhile.
... Indeed, it feels like most of the young have decided to throw themselves into the work force and other studies to better our society instead of focusing on what studies they could learn to finish off their education. I was mulling over that contradiction and thinking that perhaps a small school should be set up. Thank you for reminding me of it, again.
audio.
Books are always worthwhile.
[ Now, for the important bit. ]
And school's important. Believe me -- I used to be a teacher. I can't really think how a school here would be great, though. Science works differently from one place to another. Same goes for laws and languages and history.

At the same time, it is not as though any of the young refugees can go to the schools that are here. It feels troublesome to me to be unable to impart some knowledge to them. I wouldn't say that a person can only learn through school, of course, but ... if not laws, languages, and history... teaching just how to fight is wrong. Without knowledge, experience, and common sense, they are going to be taken advantage of... but how does one teach that, I wonder?

They say the best teacher is experience. [ He trails off after saying it, almost as if he's not fully convinced with what he just said. ]

[ A beat. Boy, this conversation sure turned broody. ]
It's harsh, but someone's gotta play the bad guy.

Heroes cannot exist unless there is an evil for them to fight.

[ That's just a bit too much! ]
I'm not sure how this conversation ended up this way, either.

Such is life, is that not right?

But it is kind of you to continue to worry about it. Rest assured, if this was a present for a holiday or her birthday, I would be a little less lackadaisical about it.
no subject
I'm not worried. It's just weird that you'd brush it off so easily, but I guess I know now. You were just asking for suggestions.
[ Qrow doesn't say it mockingly, at least. ]
no subject
I was, yes. And since we're agreed with that, I wonder why it is that you still sound troubled by how I am. [ Because there are many reasons, and he is honestly curious which one it is. ]

[ ... He won't say who scolds him, though. (It's everyone. Everyone scolds him because he is actually a 5 year old.) ]
The clarification seriously helps, though. [ A beat. ] But I got nothin' else to say to you unless you want to talk about something else. In which case, I'd be happy to be your phone buddy.
no subject
[ A small chuckle. ]
Oh? That almost sounds like a service I would have to pay for, ex-teacher.
no subject
[ Yeah, he's one of those people who's particular about this title. But, god. What happened, though. Qrow wants to hang up already but he wants to see how this'll end. ]
... And I'm sorry, I'm not that kind of phone buddy.

[ Amusement wraps itself around the word. ]
A pity. It seems like that might be the one job that has no equivalent in this world. Someone could have a market on it. [ Full-on messing with him. ]

Are you certain you were a professor?

[ please also stop trolling him... he's usually the one on the giving end!!! ]

[ But, phone-buddy...! ]
