( it's not been horribly long since Diana poked around the network, and surprise surprise, she's still ignoring the fact there is a voice and text function. she will look upon the faces of those she speaks to, tyvm!

she's dressed in the dark black of the city guard, her hair pinned up and a sparkling brooch at her cloak, though her fingers are already toying with it as she speaks. )

I see that our numbers have grown greater. My name is Diana of Themyscira, and I bid you all welcome, both faces old and new. If you need aide during your displacement, then I offer what knowledge I have. You need but ask.

( that said, it's not exactly why she's here, though her note is just as important with so many more that might need to learn how to protect themselves. )

It has come to my attention that there are many in our midst that know little in the way of defense. Or, perhaps not enough, in a world with so many dangers lingering just out of sight. It troubles me to think that there are those that may not know how to protect themselves, especially if they possess a desire to learn.

( which brings her to her purpose, an important one at that. Diana seems gifted at finding herself a purpose. )

I am an amazon, well trained in the art of war. Archery, swordplay, use of a shield, riding, hand to hand, more. If there are those that would learn, I would be happy to show what I know. It will not be simple, and the training will be difficult. Still, if you would learn, I will make you an amazon. This is more than a style of defense, it is a family. You will gain both if you learn from me.

( her piece said, Diana crosses her arms. )

I see. You are much accustomed to a dangerous world, aren't you.

( She won't doubt what she has not seen, even though Steve had never mentioned mutant alligators or giant spiders. sounds a dangerous place all considered, though. )

[priorly]

That much is true. [That much is true, just not the giant spider kind.] And without so much as a sword, shield or fierce but very polite amazonian lady to protect me.

[wondie]

And yet here you are. You have faced those dangers and lived to tell the tale.

( she's impressed. she's always impressed by warriors, and no, one doesn't need a sword or shield to be one. )

If you should need, you have a fierce but polite amazon to aide you now. ( the hint of a smile might give away that she's amused. )

[priorly]

Why, you don’t even know my name.

[He presses his hands to his heart, a little act of being touched by the offer - which doesn’t make it any less true. And if his smile turns a little wistful at the idea of living to tell the tale, it’s barely noticeable enough to matter.]

Although if you did have advice for someone whose strength may not leave him up to swinging a slice of polished steel, what would you suggest? Imagine you’re advising a kitten with opposable thumbs.

You could remedy that easier than I could.

( aka tell the fierce amazon your name, Prior! inquiring minds want to know. )

Kittens have their claws, and their strength is knowing where and when to use them.

[He shifts, and winces as he moves. Possibly a clue as to why he’s stuck in the corner of the bathroom.]

I’m sorry to say I’m lacking even those. Though I do have a name to offer - where I’m from Diana is the name of England’s future queen, incidentally. Very fashionable. My name’s somewhat less so. I’m Prior. [how did she introduce herself? Oh.] Of Chelsea.

[wondie]

Cats have cleverness in spades too, I find. And that is a handy thing for turning the strength of an opponent against them.

( Diana is a determined creature, she won't give up on the idea he can learn if he wants to. )

Another princess named Diana? How curious. ( Diana wouldn't know a fashionable name if it smacked her in the face, so she finds Prior to be a fine name. perhaps fashion isn't important to an amazon, anyway. ) I am glad to meet you, Prior. Of Chelsea. ( she smiles at that. ) I think you are teasing me.

Well I might not have if I’d known you were a princess. Imagine the coincidence. You make this queen feel dowdy in comparison. [He fans himself lightly, and laughs.] Chelsea’s a fine district. Home to galleries and grand old gays of the best type.

[wondie]

Princess Diana, daughter of Hippolyta, queen of the amazons and ruler of Themyscira. Though, I know, such titles mean naught here.

( still kinda hard to kick, though, and... her head tilts in her curiosity. ) You are a queen?

Do you care for coffee, Prior? We could have some, and you could tell me of your Chelsea.

[priorly]

Well I used to be. On alternate Friday nights in this little club in the village? [Tell him about those titles being hard to kick. He waves a hand, as if dismissing it.] Your old life doesn't mean nothing just because no one else knows about it. You know, that's what matters. And coffee sounds wonderful, I'd love to hear about your life, too.

[wondie]

Only a queen on alternate Fridays. ( that's some real casual monarchy right there, Prior!!!

oh and ) We should meet, then, when you would like.

[priorly]

Though always in my heart. [Sorry, Diana.] It's more of an occupation among my people, you see. Not so much hereditary as a calling.

And I am sadly lacking in ways to occupy my time. Would Sunday afternoon suit?

[wondie]

A calling. I am not sure I understand, but perhaps you can explain this to me as well.

( she'd love drag, Prior, please do... )

Sunday would be perfect, yes.

[priorly]

[Only if she's willing to loan an outfit.]

I'd be delighted. Do you have a place you prefer? If not there's a little shop in my neighbourhood: nothing fancy, but it's quiet, and the coffee tastes halfway like home.

[wondie]

( you're gonna have to ask really nice for the amazon armor but the other stuff is free game. )

It sounds lovely. I'd love to try it, especially if they serve ice cream. Coffee is best over ice cream.

( it's the only way Bruce could convince her to try it after sampling it the first time and finding it impossibly bitter. )

[priorly]

Oh really, is that the amazonian way? [It's a little delightful - it makes him laugh, anyway.] I used to take it black as night but my tastes have mellowed of late. If they don't serve ice cream we'll bring our own.

[wondie]

No, but it is my way.

( most amazons haven't even had ice cream. it's a travesty. )
