( it's not been horribly long since Diana poked around the network, and surprise surprise, she's still ignoring the fact there is a voice and text function. she will look upon the faces of those she speaks to, tyvm!

she's dressed in the dark black of the city guard, her hair pinned up and a sparkling brooch at her cloak, though her fingers are already toying with it as she speaks. )

I see that our numbers have grown greater. My name is Diana of Themyscira, and I bid you all welcome, both faces old and new. If you need aide during your displacement, then I offer what knowledge I have. You need but ask.

( that said, it's not exactly why she's here, though her note is just as important with so many more that might need to learn how to protect themselves. )

It has come to my attention that there are many in our midst that know little in the way of defense. Or, perhaps not enough, in a world with so many dangers lingering just out of sight. It troubles me to think that there are those that may not know how to protect themselves, especially if they possess a desire to learn.

( which brings her to her purpose, an important one at that. Diana seems gifted at finding herself a purpose. )

I am an amazon, well trained in the art of war. Archery, swordplay, use of a shield, riding, hand to hand, more. If there are those that would learn, I would be happy to show what I know. It will not be simple, and the training will be difficult. Still, if you would learn, I will make you an amazon. This is more than a style of defense, it is a family. You will gain both if you learn from me.

There are creatures beyond the walls. If you do go outside of them, take care, and perhaps company.

( he didn't ask for her advice, but Diana gives it anyway, especially if he is a new arrival. he would do well to know what he can expect. )

That would be useful to know. I do not expect all of our time will be spent in the safety of a city.

But I wouldn't decline any advice, if you've seen what's out here.

There is a range that not even I have perfect experience with, but these creatures are magical as well as fearsome. In the forest especially are giant spiders called Arache that can disturb the mind.

( calling out in the voices of loved ones to pull the unsuspecting to a grim fate... a terrifying capacity, she thinks. )

There may very well be more and worse for us to face.

Disturb the mind, huh?

[That does sound serious. Ironically, the Arache in particular might be some of the least of his worries. The list of voices to mimic is rather short when it comes to him.]

All the more reason to be as prepared as we can be.

[His brow furrows thoughtfully and he gives a closer look at the device in his hand.]

( it is important to her to prepare those that don't have much experience. it might be impossible to completely prepare, especially when there are so many unknowns, but they can still make a start.

I am uncertain. If you have something you would show me, you could turn the device that way. ( if there's a picture function, this amazonian princess does not know about it... sorry....... )

Not at the moment. I only meant that it might be useful to have pictures of these creatures to show as well.

I used something like this that had a "camera" on it. I don't have it anymore though.

Ah. Clever... I confess, I am uncertain if this device has such a function, but perhaps we may yet find a way. I have a friend I can question on that matter.

( Bruce could probably get her a camera, basically. Bruce did promise to answer any technological question she has, so, he did this to himself. )

I recorded things that way back home, and found it useful. I suppose I could always ask to borrow it.

[Zelda is here and while the Sheikah Slate is hers, she might loan it to him from time to time.]

Sorry, but as far as I know only one still exists. I meant that the person who owned it before me is here and she might lend it to me if I asked.

We could document with pen and paper until a time comes that we could photograph.

A simple journal of notes might do just as well though. Much less complex.

I imagine if you asked, you could find help. They may be more comfortable with a sketch, or with writing.

For now, it's enough to say that I spent a lot of time fighting on my own before I came here. Only because there was nobody else who could.

As for fighting alone... I hear many suffer such a fate. I myself had to make some of my battle on my own, as well. It is a blessing that there are so many like minds here, considering this is not always the case. So rarely, in fact.

It was a duty, not a choice. Even then I couldn't have done it without what help I did get from others on the way.

[If you ask him, people who turn down that help are the foolish ones.]
