( it's not been horribly long since Diana poked around the network, and surprise surprise, she's still ignoring the fact there is a voice and text function. she will look upon the faces of those she speaks to, tyvm!

she's dressed in the dark black of the city guard, her hair pinned up and a sparkling brooch at her cloak, though her fingers are already toying with it as she speaks. )

I see that our numbers have grown greater. My name is Diana of Themyscira, and I bid you all welcome, both faces old and new. If you need aide during your displacement, then I offer what knowledge I have. You need but ask.

( that said, it's not exactly why she's here, though her note is just as important with so many more that might need to learn how to protect themselves. )

It has come to my attention that there are many in our midst that know little in the way of defense. Or, perhaps not enough, in a world with so many dangers lingering just out of sight. It troubles me to think that there are those that may not know how to protect themselves, especially if they possess a desire to learn.

( which brings her to her purpose, an important one at that. Diana seems gifted at finding herself a purpose. )

I am an amazon, well trained in the art of war. Archery, swordplay, use of a shield, riding, hand to hand, more. If there are those that would learn, I would be happy to show what I know. It will not be simple, and the training will be difficult. Still, if you would learn, I will make you an amazon. This is more than a style of defense, it is a family. You will gain both if you learn from me.

( her piece said, Diana crosses her arms. )

I understand. As children we can't control our magic, we only gain control through going to school and practice. It's not to say emotional distress won't cause it, but largely when we've graduated school it no longer occurs.

It's difficult, but you can learn to control such power.

[Afterall, she's seen firsthand what happens when a child doesn't learn to control their magic. To shunt it to the side and feel hated for it. Perhaps, it's not quite the same, but being afraid of what you're born with-- not knowing how to use it-- Well. It reminds her of a sad boy who was never shown kindness and who learned to distrust magic he had before he could use it.

( she hesitates, only a breath. Diana had addressed this with someone she trusted because a part of her worries that she will frighten with a capacity that she cannot control. still, her aim is not for secrecy, it is for control, so she nods. )

[ She worries into her lower lip before giving a nod. It's not a suggestion she made lightly and after a brief pause she offers:]

You should speak to him yourself first and decide... But of anyone here he is the person I would trust with such matters.

( she'll make contact and see if she likes the feel of him... but honestly she's pretty easy to trust. it's unlikely she won't. )

( that's a name you just don't forget, and Diana recalls speaking to a man of that name before. )

I spoke to him once, he helped in my efforts to restore our landing site. He seemed to me a good man.

[ She chews on her lower lip before answering: ]

He won't remember such an encounter.

( well... that's troubling... )

Why? What happened?

Mid-August he had fallen back to sleep. When the newcomers arrived he was among them, but he hasn't remembered anything from being here previously.

[If she says it with carefully veiled emotion, well. It's to be expected.]

( her expression softens a little. it seems as if there's more there than Tina lets on, but Diana doesn't ask. )

I am sorry to hear it. I have experienced this before, I'm afraid. I wonder how the storm can corrupt memories in such a way.

Well, the truth of the matter is none of us have been here long enough to have the information we might want. Just over two months doesn't give much way to learn everything we can.

Perhaps the Orbiters might have more answers, they have more experience with the nature of this Storm than the rest of us.

Depends on how honest you expect them to be, if you ask me.

When you don't have all the available information it's easy for someone to be dishonest who does.

[Her answer is simple, but then she is a rather simple woman all the same. She can't just trust word so easily.]
