( it's not been horribly long since Diana poked around the network, and surprise surprise, she's still ignoring the fact there is a voice and text function. she will look upon the faces of those she speaks to, tyvm!

she's dressed in the dark black of the city guard, her hair pinned up and a sparkling brooch at her cloak, though her fingers are already toying with it as she speaks. )

I see that our numbers have grown greater. My name is Diana of Themyscira, and I bid you all welcome, both faces old and new. If you need aide during your displacement, then I offer what knowledge I have. You need but ask.

( that said, it's not exactly why she's here, though her note is just as important with so many more that might need to learn how to protect themselves. )

It has come to my attention that there are many in our midst that know little in the way of defense. Or, perhaps not enough, in a world with so many dangers lingering just out of sight. It troubles me to think that there are those that may not know how to protect themselves, especially if they possess a desire to learn.

( which brings her to her purpose, an important one at that. Diana seems gifted at finding herself a purpose. )

I am an amazon, well trained in the art of war. Archery, swordplay, use of a shield, riding, hand to hand, more. If there are those that would learn, I would be happy to show what I know. It will not be simple, and the training will be difficult. Still, if you would learn, I will make you an amazon. This is more than a style of defense, it is a family. You will gain both if you learn from me.

What does it entail?

My aunt always started in defensive maneuvers. With a staff, or a shield. From there you move on to bracing your own offense.

More skilled students might be able to start at swordplay or archery.

Not a fan or firearms, I see.

What are the Amazons? Is it like an order of warriors?

No. I have seen what they can do, but I have never tried to fire one.

( Themyscira had no guns. coincidentally Diana is fast enough to deflect bullets with her braces, but that's not a skill she can share with others, more than likely. )

Similar, yes. Amazons were created by Zeus to help restore the light in humanity. Eventually we were named their protectors, against the wicked god Ares and his manipulations.

Do you have ways to counter them, though?

[ Hey, she can deflect shots with her lightsaber, but she can't really teach that either. ]

Sounds very mystical-like, but who am I to not believe you? Are any other Amazons here?

Do I? Yes. I'm not sure it would be easily taught. I haven't seen much artillery since my arrival here, but you are right that it'd be wise to prepare for it as well.

( she would really love if there were, tbh. just like home, her sisters and family remain lost to her. )

If one wakes from stasis, I will be certain to send them your way.

There must be things such as full-body energy shields here. You strap it like a bracelet or a belt and it covers you in an invisible field that protects you from harm. Up to some point, of course.

[ On the other hand, the Exile wants nothing less than to run into the Force sensitive people she can clearly feel here. She'll have to eventually though. ]

But you're already awake and I'm interested. Maybe when you're not busy training people we could have a spar.

Interesting. I've never heard of such a device, I have a metal shield but nothing like that. ( a nod. ) I will look into it.

( well, she can agree to those terms. she needs to keep her skills sharp as much as she wants to share them. ) I can agree to that. Antiope trained me to be ready to face different styles, but I won't know if that is true unless I face them.

What sort of combat do you specialize in? Or do you mean to surprise me?

The technology should exist, or someone capable of making it could be here. My own technical expertise isn't that well developed.

I'm trained in several fighting styles, but with weapons and without. I do prefer bladed weapons for the most part.

If it exists, I will find it. Having a means of defense against firearms would be quite invaluable. They proved deadly to too many of my sisters.

( amazons were trained in so much, and yet there was not a lot they could do against bullets and shrapnel. an oversight Diana won't make twice. )

I favor sword and shield, or hand to hand. I would meet you with either.

I can imagine. If I find someone with the means or the expertise...or both, I'll send them your way. Diana, was it?

You're right! I don't have much going on for me, so let me know when you want to do this. We can even do whatever else regular people do whenever they're not punching each other.

I can agree to those terms. As for dancing, modern style seems to be little more than staying in place and swaying. It should not be a difficult feat.
