I see that our numbers have grown greater. My name is Diana of Themyscira, and I bid you all welcome, both faces old and new. If you need aide during your displacement, then I offer what knowledge I have. You need but ask.

( that said, it's not exactly why she's here, though her note is just as important with so many more that might need to learn how to protect themselves. )

It has come to my attention that there are many in our midst that know little in the way of defense. Or, perhaps not enough, in a world with so many dangers lingering just out of sight. It troubles me to think that there are those that may not know how to protect themselves, especially if they possess a desire to learn.

( which brings her to her purpose, an important one at that. Diana seems gifted at finding herself a purpose. )

I am an amazon, well trained in the art of war. Archery, swordplay, use of a shield, riding, hand to hand, more. If there are those that would learn, I would be happy to show what I know. It will not be simple, and the training will be difficult. Still, if you would learn, I will make you an amazon. This is more than a style of defense, it is a family. You will gain both if you learn from me.

( her piece said, Diana crosses her arms. )

Do you truly think there are some beyond learning? I find that is only the case if they decide that about themselves.

In most cases, I do not find that to be so. Though I will not argue pain leaves a mark not easily forgotten.

[A belated thought occurs to Andy just then. He's lost some of his tough guy voice.]

I also meant like motorcycles and jet skis and stuff, but you answered both my questions, so good job. Horses are extremely cool. Plus you super blend in here 'cause I haven't seen a single motorcycle. Do you own a horse?

Motorcycles? ( she also has no idea what a jet ski is, but she is starting small. )

I have not purchased my own steed as of yet, but I have access to one through my work as a guard.

Dude! What's up! Yes! Man, guards get everything, huh? Why the heck would anyone take any of the other lame jobs around?

Those with a mind for science or hands for healing would not be very happy in the guard, even with access to a horse. Are you a rider yourself?

With all due respect, those with a mind for science and healing hands are idiots. I mean, not actual idiots. They're probably pretty smart. But idiots, 'cause who wouldn't want a horse.

I've only ridden motorcycles. And jet skis. And regular bikes too, which is kind of like riding a horse, but not a for-real actual horse with blood and guts and stuff. Mostly I walk, I guess? Or drive. I own a car. Well--owned.

You seem to have a great fondness for horses. If you would learn to ride, I would show you what I know.

Okay, one, that is a sweet way to describe cars, and I am so stealing that. Two, yes I do have a fondness for horses, and thank you for noticing. Everybody likes horses. They're God's most beautiful animal.

Holy crap. Horse power! I get it! They mean like, the actual power of horses!

You think so? I would find it hard to simply pick one. There are many beautiful creatures.

( she laughs at his comeback, because damn you andy, she can't help it. you're adorable. )

Indeed. A friend of mine explained it to me, it is hard to fathom a device with the power of twenty horses, yet somehow they made an engine capable. ( can u tell she's used to old timey cars, Andy... ) I cannot assist you with automobiles, but horses I can. Tell me when you would be free, and we will set up a time to go riding.

Now! No. [wait] Tomorrow? Tomorrow. Or the day after. I'm really just testing snacks right now, because I don't have a job "yet"-- [He does the air quotes for his own benefit.] --so I'm free pretty much always. And I can bring snacks.

I won't say no to a snack, but be sure to bring one your steed might like as well. Carrot, apple, sugar are usual picks.

[A carrot rolled in sugar? Gross. But simple! Turns out that horses are going to be a piece of frickin' cake. Horse-shaped cake.]

Alarm clocks! We have a radio alarm clock and we duct taped it to a Roomba 'cause I kept punching it apart in the morning. Totally by accident. Guess I don't know my own strength. My friend Tom gave me the idea and it works... pretty good? Sometimes I throw stuff at it and I'm good at baseball so, pow--

[Unseen, he mimes a throw.]

Direct hit, usually. How do you wake up without a clock? Roosters?

It is easy to forget ones own strength during the lull of sleep.

( granted she's never destroyed any clocks, and she doesn't even know what a roomba is, but it seems #relatable anyway. )

I generally rise with the sun, though I linger if I choose to.

What time does the sun get up? [wait.] Dude. You mean sunrise? You wake up at sunrise?

Usually. Do you find that to be a strange time to rise?

( she probably doesn't even want to know what time most humans get up, let's be honest. )

Look, no offense, but the only time I ever saw the sunrise was once on TV when I watched a nature show by mistake. And then once when I stayed up real late watching American Gladiator reruns and I thought someone was just shining a really bright light outside the window but when I went to shut the blinds, it turned out it was just the sun, 'cause it was two in the afternoon the next day, and I'd missed a whole day of work.

What do you do when you're all-- you know, awake, with the sun?

If you ever get the chance to experience it intentionally, I suspect you will find the early morning to be not so very different from the late morning.

( she does normal things, Andy... okay maybe not she's an amazon maybe she leaps buildings and deadlifts tanks, but in theory. )
