What does it mean to love someone? How are you supposed to feel?

[ Hi, everyone. Have an awkward, developmentally-stunted dude who asks weird questions with no preamble. It's a heavy topic most people would probably prefer to discuss with close friends and family, not someone they've never met, but Roman doesn't think like that. It doesn't occur to him that some topics may not be appropriate to post on a network like this with relative strangers.

It doesn't occur to him that some people probably can't relate, or wouldn't care about this kind of inner turmoil. There are plenty of other things to worry about here, too, but these thoughts take precedence to him. Surviving in a strange new world is, to him, almost preferable to the struggles within, those of the heart and soul. ]

Some people don't deserve it, do they?

Do you think you'll love anyone else again?

Had you asked me that several years ago, I would have responded with a hard no. Now, it might be possible. But I'm not completely certain.

How would you know?

I wouldn't, since my feelings were not reciprocated. If I do find out, I will share my discoveries.

[It's the least he can do since he's just starting to get in touch with his emotions.]

I don't believe I deserve it.

I've done too many terrible things in my life to deserve it.

What terrible things?

Aside from being an assassin, a friend was badly wounded because of me. Before I arrived here, I wanted get him repaired. To make up for what I did.

Because of you? What did you do?

He sacrificed himself so I could get a clean shot at my target. Had I not recruited him, he would still be in one piece.
