Hello, everyone! I hope you've all been doing well. It's strange to think how long we've been here already, isn't it? But I feel like that's a good thing, too. Like we're finally getting used to living here... That kind of feeling.

[Speaking for himself, anyway - but then, Atsushi has his reasons for being happy with his life for a change. In fact, that's why he's making this video.]

If we haven't met yet: my name is Nakajima Atsushi! Mr. Evras has hired me to collect flora and fauna samples for the Simwe Institute. [That sounds nicer than it probably is: Atsushi's just a gopher, and he only works on commission. No interesting samples means no money.

But Atsushi could care less about that! He has an actual job, that he got all by himself, and he's so, so proud. It's that, rather than a desire for assignments and hence money, that makes him put himself out there.]

I know the Institute has hired more people, so I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to everyone working there. If you need any samples, please don't hesitate to contact me! Whatever you need, I will do my absolute best to provide.

I look forward to working with you! [And he bows at the camera before turning it off.]

Yep! Just got hired on!

[ He's all grins about it. It's like being a person again, instead of the young man charged with purifying the world. Which, while he doesn't regret his decision to take on the latter role -- he could never! -- it's not a bad change. ]

Seems that way! Glad to know I'll be seeing a familiar face around!

[ And since they're both in the 'plants' division, (if that's an actual thing), then-- ]

Since we're on similar teams, maybe we can go on an expedition together for work, too!

Honestly, Atsushi feels much the same. Even if his self-imposed mission was never quite as serious as Sorey's, it's nice to not have to worry about saving the world all the time. And he's still studying and training in case he needs to do that after all, so it's not like he's ignoring anyone's suffering!]

That would be great! You could teach me about ruins and plants at the same time.

[Atsushi isn't technically limited to plants, but those are definitely easier to get samples of than animals... and, when it comes to gaining knowledge, he'll take what he can get!]

Well, I'm a lot better at one of those things than the other...

[ But will he try to be good at both? Absolutely. ]

But hey, who knows? Maybe we can use this as an excuse to go explore some ruins sooner than we thought! You never know what you'll find in them! And if we do make a rare find, we can take it back to the Institute!

[ Nerd alert. ]

[Atsushi has, at least, been reading up on Nysan nature as much as he can - which definitely isn't to say he knows all there is to know, even of the flora and fauna already documented, but he knows a little! Probably enough to realize what plants are rare, at least.]

I'd like that! Though it feels like skipping work a little, doing something so fun.

[Not that he's paid by the hour, so he's got nothing to lose, really...]

No one said it has to feel like work! But you'll definitely be helping me if you go!

[ They won't do it soon, of course; he imagines they've both got to settle in properly, first. ]

[He would have always come. It's just that, when Sorey puts it like that - and so sincerely - it warms Atsushi's heart, making him eager to go for more than just selfish fun.]
