[ The recording turns on showing Mikoto slouched on a couch with a cigarette tucked in his mouth. His jacket's gone, leaving him in a white tee looking a little bored. ]

Where do you report a missing person around here?

[ The person? His roommate. She's been gone a while now leaving the house all to himself, which he does appreciate but he's also wondering what happened to her. He figures the least he can do is report her missing. ]

[ The station?

A flicker of interest crosses the gold pupils and he shifts his gaze to her. ]

How do you do contact the station?

[maipokerface]

I don't think you can contact it directly... maybe? You can travel there though. It's sort of an instant thing or whatever, the guy with the tired voice said something about it the first night we were in Olympia.

[Yeah, she has no clue what his name is but his supposedly soothing voice strikes her as tired.]

[lionhearrt]

[ Mikoto had napped through that particular speech.... so he's got no clue. ]

Have you been up there?

[maipokerface]

Several times so far. It's weird at first but you get the hang of it.

[lionhearrt]

[ A quiet nod at the comment as he pulls out a cigarette lighting it with a flick of his finger. ]

I'll check there first.

[ You know, before he goes to the the weird guys in armor. ]

[maipokerface]

[There's a pause from Mai.]

... The thing you just did. With your fingers. Is that something you've always been able to do?

[It's a little prying even for Mai but honestly it's somehow... comforting? With everyone she knows fast asleep, seeing someone who looks like a bender naturally makes her want to say something to them.]

[lionhearrt]

[ His eyes shift to look at her. The question not all that unexpected. ]

Hmm.

[ At first, it seems that's all he's going to say but he ends up adding an afterthought, the cigarette moving with his words. ]

A while now.

[maipokerface]

[Mai goes quiet herself, mulling that over. She ends up fiddling a bit with one of her knives, her tone of voice thoughtful and mild.]

At home, there are a lot of people who can do that. I didn't really expect to see that here, not with everyone else asleep anyhow.

[lionhearrt]

[ A lot of people who can do that... like HOMRA? As soon as the thought surfaces, its discarded. He was part of the first drop when they landed. He got to see first-hand just what kind of powers existed in other worlds. So, when he met her and found that her powers weren't all that different from his clansmen, he figured this was just something else he'd need to get used too. But, he didn't want her to get the wrong impression. While their powers seemed the similar, they weren't the same at all. ]

It's not fire.

[ The taps end of the cigarette on an ashtray. ]

[maipokerface]

... Yeah? Huh. Looks enough like it though.

[Or at least enough to be somewhat surprising.]

[lionhearrt]

It's not just fire.

[ He adds as he slips the stick back into his mouth, letting the smoke rise to the ceiling near the smoke detector that had been melted down days ago, the first time it'd gone off. ]

[maipokerface]

[Not just fire. Were the benders abilities 'just fire'? She wasn't thoroughly sure honestly. Not being a bender had it's limits after all when it came to what one did or didn't know about bending.]

Sounds complicated.

[lionhearrt]

[ He shrugs. It's not like he's great at explaining things let alone the giant sword in the sky that happens to appear everytime he uses his full powers. ]

No more than anyone else's.

[ Her's included he's betting. ]

[maipokerface]

I guess. There's definitely a lot of people with a lot of different abilities around here that I imagine aren't exactly complicated. Or simple.

[She's still not gotten over the slight sting of being in the last wave though. Not to mention how she needs to find her own strength if she's going to protect those on the station.]

[lionhearrt]

There's still the ones without power.

[ The ones that would need protecting. ]

[maipokerface]

The people still asleep?

[Is that what he means? It strikes a little pang in her heart and brings up a bitter feeling in the back of her throat.]

[lionhearrt]

[ A nod. Like her, all his people were still asleep leaving him the lone wanderer in a strange world. They were the reason for his cooperation during the rescue, the reason he played house in this place. ]

They have no way to defend themselves.

[ No matter what powers they held. ]

[maipokerface]

[That darkens her expression fairly well.]

No, they don't.

[lionhearrt]

Do you believe them.

[ The ones who sent them down here. ]

Their story.

[ He's still hasn't decided. It's the only reason he hasn't blown through the station looking for HOMRA. ]

[maipokerface]

... I don't know. I've played it over in my head what they could possibly gain from this sort of story. They've just left us down here to integrate after all, they let us come and go freely from their ship... if they have some ulterior motive, I can't figure it out.

[If it was political then they wouldn't have chosen the array of people they did. If it was control over them then they would be more bound up.]

The only thing I can believe in are the pods and the people in them. And what I saw before I went to sleep.

[The growing darkness spreading before the Storm arrived in her world.]

[lionhearrt]

[ The smoke continues to climb toward the ceiling as Mikoto mulls over those words. His thoughts had run in a similar direction. With no information and no imminent threat, the Red King was at a standstill. ]

We'll just have to wait and see.

[maipokerface]

Easier said than done.
