Hello.

I am curious about the general knowledge of androids in this place and thought I would ask a few questions, if anyone has the time to answer.

1. Do androids exist in your world?
If so, what are they like? Do they have humanoid appearances, how do they behave, are they designed to emulate human responses, et cetera.
2. Have you interacted with an android?
If so, what was it like? Did you know they were an android? Were they able to successfully 'pass' for human?
3. If androids exist in your world, were there laws passed in relation to them, their uses or 'rights'?
What were these laws? Did you witness them being broken? What were the consequences?

And I have another question, not relating to androids. Regarding emotions –

4. Are there methods available to assist in regulating unpleasant or extreme emotional responses? Preferably with 100% success rates, though I am happy to discuss tools with less guaranteed outcomes or results.

Please respond at your convenience. Thank you for your time.

  1. Yes. Where I'm from, androids come in all shapes and sizes, though most are designed to be humanoid in appearance. Perhaps the most notable is an android that is nearly indistinguishable from humans in appearance and behavior that endeavors to become more human.
  2. Yes on both accounts, however the need to "pass" for human is unnecessary in a society comprised of hundreds of varying species.
  3. Whether or not the afore mentioned notable android was considered to be a sentient being vs an artificial lifeform incapable of independent, self-aware thought was once a subject of heated debate. A debate which I am happy to say ended in his favor.
  4. Which methods have you tried?
