[The feed flickers a few times as Inara pokes at her phone a few times. Finally it steadies and Inara shakes her head.]

Bàoqiàn. I'm sorry, I'm still attempting to get use to these communication devices.

[She settles back and offers a charming smile before briefly dipping her head.]

Nín hǎo? For those of you I've failed to meet, I'm Inara Serra and still relatively new here. [She draws in a deep breath before continuing on.] Now I know that there are a great deal of you came from Earth, and while I find that truly fascinating and would love to hear some of your stories concerning it, I'm interested in knowing just where everyone else comes from.

I ask because though my ancestors come from Earth, though, no one has lived on Earth for centuries. I was born and raised on a planet called Sihnon. I trained there as well but before coming here, I'd spent a good year traveling between the different planets and various moons of our system.

[She takes a small sip of her tea before giving a brief nod of her head. She might have borrowed a teapot and some cups.]

I can't offer much, but I've only just made a fresh pot of tea and I'd be willing to share it with anyone who wouldn't mind telling me about where they come from.

Who knows, someone might have already. We might not have asked the right people.

[She shuts the door and turns to face him fully. He was certainly the most interesting person she's met so far and that was saying a lot. She gracefully motions to the small sofa.]

Please, sit and make yourself comfortable, Mollymauk or would you prefer me to call you Molly?

Molly's fine. [He settles himself and leans forward, resting elbows on his knees.] It's so difficult to find anything when you don't have stores everywhere. Do you they have these everywhere that you're from? [He leans back, spreading his hands to indicate the station.] It's so... I don't even know the word for it. Cold?

These? [It takes her a moment to realize what he's talking about and then she quickly shakes her head before taking a seat as well.] Not so many of them. I suppose there are some, but most people either live on the planets or they live on ships...

Ships? [He props an elbow on the armrest and presses a fingertip to his temple as he starts sprawling a little more against the side of the couch. He has a lot of restless energy on top of wanting to be as comfortable as possible, but he seems to have settled now.]

Now see, I can't fathom why anyone who isn't a sailor would live on a ship.

[It takes her a moment and then she realizes that he thinks she's talking about water ships.]

No, I mean, people do I suppose live on ships on water but the ships I'm talking about are... I guess spaceships.

Oh. So like... this, only more mobile?

[He points to the floor, indicating the station.] That's... Brilliant. I'm impressed and a little terrified. It's a little too much for me. All that blackness.

[It's too much.... nothing, just from what he can see through the windows here. It almost makes him queasy.]

Yes, only smaller and without so many people.

[Which she misses and for a moment, her expression might just might look a little wistful. She had wanted so badly to leave Serenity to return to Sihnon, but now.... Now she would give just about anything to return to the ship.]

It is a lot to take in at first.. But I grew to appreciate it and I think I would now even welcome it.

I think now that I've experienced both sides, I like my feet better on the ground.. My head's better in the clouds, not the rest of me.

[He reaches over for a teacup and gives her a mock toast.] But here's to what we're missing and may we find something better to replace it.

[She smiles at him and lifts her own cup.]

And to new friends in such a strange place. I do hope we can become friends.
