[The feed flickers a few times as Inara pokes at her phone a few times. Finally it steadies and Inara shakes her head.]

Bàoqiàn. I'm sorry, I'm still attempting to get use to these communication devices.

[She settles back and offers a charming smile before briefly dipping her head.]

Nín hǎo? For those of you I've failed to meet, I'm Inara Serra and still relatively new here. [She draws in a deep breath before continuing on.] Now I know that there are a great deal of you came from Earth, and while I find that truly fascinating and would love to hear some of your stories concerning it, I'm interested in knowing just where everyone else comes from.

I ask because though my ancestors come from Earth, though, no one has lived on Earth for centuries. I was born and raised on a planet called Sihnon. I trained there as well but before coming here, I'd spent a good year traveling between the different planets and various moons of our system.

[She takes a small sip of her tea before giving a brief nod of her head. She might have borrowed a teapot and some cups.]

I can't offer much, but I've only just made a fresh pot of tea and I'd be willing to share it with anyone who wouldn't mind telling me about where they come from.

[Hey, it's that snappy lady from the snow! He recognizes her voice over her appearance, but at least she hasn't eventually wandered away and been frozen to death. She seems like a creature who needs certain comforts.]

Another space traveler? Why don't you tell us about space, and we'll tell you about Earth? Though given weird time paradox and multiple dimensions or whatever, everyone's Earth is clearly different.

[Inara deplores texting. She'd much rather communicate over videos so there isn't a way for her words to be taken the wrong way... Besides, texting is so impersonal.]

Another? [But she shrugs.] I suppose that's fair enough. What would you like to know?

[ Now that Bree isn't a child anymore (whatever happened seemed to wear off after an hour or so), she's been keeping to herself, not wanting to wander much in case she finds herself de-aged again or face to face with another horrible thing she can't get out of her mind. This? This is a very welcome message. ]

I wouldn't mind talking to you about Earth. Although are you...are you speaking Chinese? Or a dialect of it, anyway. My name is Bree, by the way.

[Inara smiles, obviously pleased with the young woman's answer.]

Marvelous! And I am. Where I come from everyone speaks English and and I suppose our version of Mandarin.

[Her smile grows and she dips her head in greeting.]

It's lovely to meet you, Bree and thank you for agreeing to speak to me of Earth.

[ a version of the universe where no one has lived on earth for hundreds of years? fascinating... and also a touch worrisome. she wonders what happened to cause that level of abandonment. ]

I was born and raised on Earth, but I was a good 60,000 lightyears away from it prior to going into cryostasis and have spent the majority of my adult life aboard starships.

[Inara's eyebrows lift in interest as she listens to the woman speaking.]

How fascinating. That's truly a good distance from Earth. [She's more than just a pretty face.] Where I come from it has been many centuries since humanity has lived on Earth. I'm not even certain that anyone knows where it is anymore.

[Oh, he already likes the look of her. Peter smiles back at the camera as he turns his feed on.]

I'm sure you don't have to bribe people to talk to you.

[Not laying it on too thick but being charming for...the sake of it? He's just being friendly.]

I'm not from Earth either. Although still from the same solar system. I grew up on Europa. [No, he didn't.] It's curious, though, there were certainly still people living on Earth.

[She flashes him a knowing smile. She sees what he's doing, but she's not complaining. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.]

I'm sure I don't, though I find it impolite to ask for something without offering something in return... And tea is truly such a small thing.

[Her eyebrows do lift in interest as he continues to speak.]

I can't rightly say that I've ever heard of Europa.... But, as far as we've all been told, all of humanity left Earth because it could no longer sustain us all. It is quite possible that some were left behind though.

I'm not from Earth, but I'd be happy to tell you anything you want to know about Wildemount, gorgeous. [Hint: lie through his teeth because he doesn't know shit about anything, for the most part, but who cares? IT'S DEAD NOW.] With or without the tea. I usually take ale with my stories, but I can always make exceptions.

[She blinks a little in surprise because honestly, she's still getting use to there being more species than just humans. Though, she is as always polite because it's been ingrained in her.]

Oh. Well, I'd love to hear all about Wildemount then. But, I'm afraid I can't offer much more than tea and for that, I do apologize.

[a shallow little head-dip in return. Her mannerisms... are not so far off his own, down even to the tea. He even has his own cup, though it's set off to the side with his hands busy with the device.]

I have heard of this Earth from others, but I'm not from there - or I don't believe I am. I don't know my planet's name, but my country was called Ivore.

[She smiles and finds his manners to be quite charming. Her eyes do widen a little bit because she does find it a bit odd that he doesn't know the name of his planet, though... She is entirely too polite to ask why that is.

Instead, she'll just be her normal charming self and find it out through normal conversation.]

It's lovely to meet you. I can't say that I've ever heard of a country called Ivore.... Though, where I come from, we don't come from countries anymore, just planets.

[Since Inara chose to broadcast a video, Asseylum does so in turn. She tries to hold her own device steady, but her excitement makes it a challenge. She does fairly well in spite of it. Her eyes are full and shiny, like they are ready to burst with all that she wants to express.]

It is rare that I find someone else who comes from a planet that isn't Earth, and I must confess— I have never heard of Sihnon before! Is it far from Earth's solar system?

[Inara can't help but smile at the young woman's excitement. It reminds her a little bit of Kaylee.]

I don't rightly think many here have heard of it before. The solar system I live in is far enough from Earth's that I don't believe anyone knows where it is anymore.

Is there a reason for that? And I wouldn't say I'm from space, though before here I did rent a shuttle on a ship. But before that, I grew up and lived on one planet, Sihnon.

[Oh. She is a very beautiful woman, Diana thinks. Even just over the video feed, she exudes charm, an elegance that's quiet but very powerful all the same. It takes Diana a second before she responds; Inara will see a young woman of about 18 years old, with wavy light-colored hair. She carries herself with some sort of polite grace, but there's an awkwardness in her posture at the moment, as though she's trying to match Inara's casual elegance and not quite succeeding.]

It's lovely to make your acquaintance, Ms. Serra. My name is Diana Cavendish, and I'm from England on Earth. [Nobody's lived there for centuries? She's curious as to that story.]

I'm curious-- even though you're not from Earth, that, ah... that was Chinese you were speaking, wasn't it?

[Inara smiles as she observes the young woman. She's pretty, though she's still young enough that there's a bit awkwardness around her. But, all the same, she's charming in her own way.]

It's lovely to meet you as well, Miss Cavendish, or would you prefer I call you Diana? I would prefer if you would call me Inara...

[Though she doesn't mind the Ms part, she figures that things would just be easier if there was an informal tone here.]

It was... Where I come from, most people speak both English and I suppose our version of Mandarin. Some planets speak more of one of the two than the other but we're all taught both. England though.... I remember reading some about England in my studies when I was younger. You must miss it greatly.

I'm not from Earth, and I don't think I've ever heard of a planet called that, actually. I've only heard the word 'earth' used to describe like... the ground. Now I'm curious if the world came first, or if the world was named because it... had a lot of... ground.

I... can't rightly say that I've ever truly thought about that, but maybe?

Where might you be from if you aren't from Earth?

( The face in the video is slight, with long silver hair and pointed ears; large eyes and purple face tattoos. But she's smiling and friendly, and the idea that there's an entire place where multiple planets exist with populations on them is fascinating, so Elera can't help but want to chat. )

Your world sounds fascinating. Or worlds, as you've implied. ( Nearly unthinkable for her. ) I'm from a place called Thedas. There isn't much to it -- one continent, several empires and kingdoms.

[Inara blinks for a moment seeing the silver eyes and the pointed ears, but... Even with the face tattoos, the woman is quite stunning.]

I can't say I've heard of Thedas, but... Perhaps you'd be kind enough to tell me about it and I would be more than happy to tell about where I come from.
