Yo.. so with the surface not really an option right now and all, my mercenary stuff is at a hold, and since I'm such a damn busy body I figured I'd see if anyone needed anything done around here.
My name's Duo Maxwell - good at anything to do with machinery, even if it's taking apart a bunch of tiny parts in a motor and piecing it back together, all that junk. If you doubt me and wanna see my handiwork, check out the huge black Gundam with the bat wings in the hangar. All of that is mine to fix and maintain.
I can do piloting / mech lessons as well if that's more your jam.
Also not a doctor but pretty good at field dressing, etc and definitely not squeamish if any of you doctor / healing types need a hand.
Not opposed to fetch missions either if you're feeling lazy and want a delivery boy.
Basically : Anything you need, hit me up.
Looking to keep my hands busy until we've got a bit more of an idea what's going on / mobility in general.

It's a model of a mobile suit. There's only five of them in my world.
.. Or I guess a lot of people have best understood it as a 'giant fighting robot.'

That kind of thing would be considered a fantasy in my world. I imagine that thing has schematics I never would have heard of.
Sounds like a challenge to maintain.

A lot of people have said that.. guess I'm living an interesting life, then...
They're pretty wild but not the worst I've ever seen. Plus I know the thing like the back of my hand anyways, so.. not the worst thing. not a huge challenge either if you just keep up a good rotation of things to get done on a schedule. Fall behind though and it's definitely a bitch to catch up.

It isn't too different from having a huge vehicle to take care of I guess. Lots of things to keep greased and muck to take out of it from a turn around in space, that kinda thing.
Just a lot more to keep lubed and maintained.

You don't mind if I come in to observe or take a look? I was forced to leave my own bike back on the planet when we were brought up here, so I'm admittedly going a little stir-crazy.
[Nothing to tinker with leaves Yusei very, very bored.]
no subject
Fine by me. I'm in the hangar pretty much all the time now trying to get him back up to snuff in case we need him again.
no subject
[Needed him again. Then...]
You used him against Yseverai?
no subject
Yeah. Mika and I both used our gundams.
It didn't seem to effect it much, though.
no subject
[Very hard to kill and must be slaughtered in a very specific way.]
no subject
Never dealt with that before here, honestly. So I was just kinda flyin' by the seat of my pants at best.
no subject
no subject
Yeah, definitely.
I like a little risk in my life, though, so it's fine by me.
no subject
[He misses that...the feeling of competition. The rush of the wind. A steam-powered motorbike isn't quite the same.]
no subject
Yeah, exactly. I know a few people who might tell me I need a little less threat in my life but hey.
What do they know about what I need, right?
no subject
[He laughs, even if the other man can't hear it through the text.]
No matter what anyone else says, the person who knows you best is you.
[Pause.]
Even if you don't always recognize it.
[Good advice, Yusei. Ever thought about following it yourself?]
no subject
Yeah.. took me a bit to recognize that one but once I did..
Well. It was off like a light essentially.
no subject
[This honestly sounds like a question that Yusei's asking for himself more than Duo. He's not even sure why he typed it.]
no subject
I've only ever really had me, so. Yeah. I know me.
no subject
I think that's where we differ.
[It's not said condescendingly. When you give so much of yourself to others...to the world...
He's not sure how much of him is left here, sometimes.]
I'm not sure whether to be envious of that or not.
no subject
I wouldn't be.
It wasn't a start I'd choose but it's what I got so I worked with it.
no subject
[And really, that's the heart of things, isn't it? If all you have is yourself, and you've learned to work with it, then do you ever feel alone?
Or is it just something you miss, even without knowing what it is? (Or when you do know what it is, and the absence aches terribly.)]
no subject
It can be.
But it's also nice to not need to rely on people a lot of the time. Cuts down on how often you can be disappointed and stuff like that.
no subject
[In other words, it's not the answer Yusei expected, but he can understand it. Somehow.
Maybe because the environment he grew up in encouraged that kind of thinking. Maybe if he hadn't grown up in Martha's orphanage...
Maybe.]
But I'm not entirely sure if it's worth it. Probably because I've already tasted the forbidden fruit, as it were.
[He could never really let go of his bonds, in the end. It's just who he is, what he was named for.
That's one part of his father's legacy he can't bring himself to regret, really.]
no subject
Yeah, been there too.
If you choose the right people then it's not the worst.
Just be careful about it, I guess.
