[Ianto debates for longer than he'd care to admit as to whether he should make this announcement via text or voice or what but some people obviously haven't got the time to read when there's a great bloody dragon threatening to attack, and as far as he's concerned, what he's got to say is important enough that it needs listening to.
Deep breaths, Ianto Jones, you can do this.]
Right. So we've all heard enough of it by now. Undead dragon. Shanrian's son. Stole the heart. Now him and his gang planning to bring it back so they can, I don't know. He hasn't exactly spelled that part out, now has he, though I'm pretty sure chaos is big on the menu.
And we've all been doing a lot of running around trying to figure out what to do about it. Well, most of us have. Some of us are trying to deal with the trouble with the station and some of us have other priorities I suppose, though frankly I'm not certain how much more extreme it can get than 'great crazed undead creature of legend'.
[Oops, guess he should be explaining himself here.]
Look, I've been doing some research and I think you all should know. This is a forbidden ritual he's got them doing, and there's every chance that these shamans he's got working for him won't be able to control the dragon once they're done. So if you're thinking of trying to reason with the creature, or. That you feel bad for it in some way and you want to try and spare him if you can -- don't.
Whatever they bring back won't be the dragon Ysverai and it won't care whether you are from Olympia or from Wyver or a refugee or another dragon yourself, it will simply want you dead. We're just going to need to make certain we get rid of it first.
That's the part where you all come in.
[Hopefully by that point someone will have come up with a plan...]

The dragon was already dead once. I'm pretty sure it's morally sound to make it dead again, no matter what your hang-ups are.
[It's like double jeopardy.] Debate over, everyone.
no subject
Unfortunately, all the research I've done points to this thing coming back completely out of its mind. So you're right. There's really no debate at all. It's either him, or us. And he's been dead for generations now.
[Ianto's glad that there's at least some people who agree with him. Even if they are... A raccoon.]
no subject
[Also he might be very biased against this because, well... Even Groot had to be regrown from a twig and that twig was most definitely not the original Groot. Fucking dragon dude does not get to be the exception to that rule.]
I get the Wyverns being a little idiotic about this, but our people? Come on.
no subject
And yet.
[And yet.]
I'm not sure that there is a way to save him. There wasn't a way to save the man this has been done for in the past. And if it's a choice between him or us, he's got no idea what's going on anymore. He's being used, for the personal gain of a madman. It would be merciful, as much as anything else.
no subject
If it were me, I'd want somebody to do it. I wouldn't wanna live like that.
no subject
My thoughts exactly.
[He takes a breath.]
Look, I. Don't really have any ideas as far as how to approach the situation from there, but. I figured if we brought our heads together, we might at least come to some conclusions?

Unfortunately, I've got a feeling that this creature is of the resilient sort. The High Dragons were rather notoriously hard to kill. Only "Thesa's Light" was able to fell them in the end, after all.
Whatever that means. God knows it would be a lot easier if anyone wrote what they actually meant, instead of using a bunch of flowery filler to make it all sound more epic.

The frickin' Natha. Who are suspiciously absent.
no subject
[Ianto has a lot of opinions on these Natha. And he'd like to know where they hell they are now when this crisis is brewing for that matter as well, yes.]

[Careful, Ianto, your conspiracy theories are showing.]
Maybe they really are as benevolent as they appear, I just. I don't know. Where are they now? When the shit starts to really hit the fan and they've buggered off to leave us to fend for ourselves, it just doesn't leave me feeling very warm and fuzzy on their behalf.

If this forbidden ritual somehow "taints" the dragon, turning it into something it's not, shouldn't there be another ritual that can "cleanse" it somehow?
It's not that I'm opposed to killing the dragon if we have to, but that's easier said than done. If some kind of counter-ritual is possible, it could help, whether we aim to kill the dragon or not.
no subject
Perhaps it might be possible? I'm no expert on any of this, mind. I've just managed to find record of a ritual like this one done before, and it was...
Well, they wrote of bringing back from death a great hero, but when he returned, the man was crazed. Wrong. He lived just one day before the family hired an assassin to end his life again, and "no attempts by the shamans who'd called him back to control his madness could save him". Apparently the ritual has been forbidden since.
You'll forgive me for saying so, but it doesn't paint a very hopeful picture. The writings were very brief, though. I've no idea what the shamans did to try and save this man, or if there is a way to -- perhaps, reverse what was done, as it were? I’m not sure there’s record of it, though perhaps looking into a way of cleansing the creature itself...?
[It could work. At least, in theory. Again, he’s no shaman. Or magician, for that matter.]
no subject
[An already-dangerous dragon coming back crazed? If anything, "worrying" is an understatement.]
Perhaps the best we can hope for is that the ritual simply won't work on a dragon... but of course we need to be prepared.
If the shamans didn't manage, perhaps we should try other sources? The Temples, for example!
[If Overseer Voss preaches at the dragon, maybe it will be bored to death.]
Or maybe the Khali animal tamers...? Obviously they couldn't handle the dragons of old, but, if nothing else, they might still have ways to slow a crazed dragon down.
no subject
[He rubs at his face tiredly. He's been doing a lot of researching lately. Chasing down a lot of different tracks of thought that have so far ended up going nowhere but here. It's a very troubling state of affairs.]
The Temples may be another route to go, I just. At what point do we accept that the dragon might not want to have been brought back in the first place?
no subject
[One thing's for sure: the dragon never asked to be brought back through some kind of corrupting ritual. Atsushi can't imagine anything or anybody enjoying being brought back to life as a tool for someone else to achieve his goals, either.]
At least the record you mention suggests that it can be killed again. If that's our only hope, then that's what we'll have to do.
no subject
[A beat.]
Just your average magically resurrected dragon instead.
no subject
[He gives Ianto a sheepish smile. Maybe Atsushi's life had never been what you'd call "normal", but it wasn't nearly as crazy as everything here, he thinks. That Nysa life...]
no subject
I'm afraid to say that I'm one of those more recently arrived. Is this sort of thing a frequent occurrence? You know. Calamities on this sort of scale, I mean? Or have I just gotten lucky?
no subject
[Atsushi, no.]
There was the outbreak of a sickness that forced all of Olympia to evacuate, and political unrest.... riots that had the city on fire, and mass kidnappings...
[ATSUSHI, NO! In his defense, he actually looks a little uncomfortable about mentioning the kidnappings, but that's only because he was a victim, and it was Not Fun.]
Well, everywhere you go will have things like that happening, I think!
[That sheepish smile returns. Between Nysa lyfe and his life before that, he's a little jaded.]
no subject
[Just sayin'.]
I'd heard about some of the rest of that though, but. Not all of it. It makes me wonder if we shouldn't be keeping some sort of record of it all ourselves. You know. In case some future disaster were to need to reference what choices we were making here themselves.
What was the sickness? Was it that bad?
no subject
J-Just because a dragon is a huge spectacle, that doesn't mean that it's worse than any of the other things that happened. Anyway, we don't know for sure that the resurrection will be successful!
[Do you know how hard it is for him to cling to positivity? He's trying!]
A record wouldn't be a bad idea... I don't know if anyone bothered keeping one. We were kind of busy at the time...
More than a sickness, it was a biological attack? There was an explosion that released purple fog, and a lot of people got infected. We hadn't been allowed into Wyver until that point, but to disinfect the city, the Empress arranged for everyone to be evacuated and live in Wyver for a while.
no subject
A biological attack? [Wow that doesn't sound alarming at all.] Did someone plan for this to happen to the city then?
[Was it this asshole Rasyc, has he been planning this sort of thing all along, wow Ianto's really got a bee in his bonnet as far as this guy has concerned, first he stole the Heart to resurrect a long-dead dragon and inflict chaos on the citizens and now potentially this?]
no subject
Yes and no? It was a disease manufactured by the Institute, but it was someone else who released it - someone unrelated to either city.
no subject
The Institute. You mean... Evras' research laboratories? What were they doing manufacturing diseases there?
No, never mind that. Was it known who released it into the city? Was it Rasyc?
[If it was so help him...]
no subject
[Too bad, you're getting an answer anyway. No take-backsies. Meanwhile, Atsushi isn't nearly as shocked about that piece of information as he probably should be. It's been long enough that he's mostly numb to it.]
It was Cree who arranged it... or facilitated it? He wasn't directly involved in the release, but was definitely responsible for the terrorists getting their hands on the disease.
video;
Did you find out anything about how we could stop it?
no subject
The only concrete answers I do have is that it's been done once before and that they did end up killing that person as well. Which stands to reason we should be able to do the same here. Easier said than done, considering our target, but. Better than nothing I suppose?

[He rubs his eyes. He's been doing a lot of reading these ancient texts, lately.]

Anyway, I'm doing what I can from here but I'm only one person. What we need is to share information amongst ourselves about our findings. Now more than ever it's important that no one keep what they've uncovered a secret. It's why I've made this post and it's why I hope that others do the same, if they should find any more answers themselves, yeah? Just because we're pretty much stumbling around in the dark doesn't mean that we're not completely without resources.

I've never fought a dragon before, but I am decent with a musket.
no subject
If you've got your musket with you, I have no doubt that they could use your help against whatever there is to come.
no subject
I'm not certain I should want to fight him, come to that. Is it not possible to fight the people bringing him back? Maybe if they weren't controlling him, he could be reasoned with.
And I'm afraid, sir, I do not have my musket with me. Only a few rounds, and they wouldn't do much good.
no subject
Listen, don't worry about it. You should be able to defend the citizens against the members of Raysc's people though, yeah. If you want to lend a hand, I've no doubt that that's where they will need it most. With the defense of the evacuation.
we love myfanwy <3
Of course I'll help with the evacuations. I gave my life for one cause back in France, I'd do anything to help the people here. For the greater good.
once i gather enough natha rep she is totally coming to el nysa >>
I'm glad to hear it, then. They're going to need all the help that they can get, if this is to go in the way that I'm afraid that it might.
Listen. If I find out more then I will certainly do what I can to let people know. But I wouldn't count on it. There isn't much written about this ritual to be able to stop it from happening -- and believe me, I've looked. Unless we're to happen to stumble on something in the next few days, I think we need to focus our efforts on dealing with what comes next.
