[ The video flicks on, blurs for a moment, then comes into focus on a rather handsome-looking man in his late 20's with a fairly scruffy looking beard and long-ish hair swept back. He's still got something of a boyish look to him even if his eyes have the kind of depth to them that expresses that he's seen some shit.

Some might recognize him from past battles, the wave-drops, the riots, or most recently: the torture room. Some might have seen him walking through the city of Olympia while on Royal Guard duty. And some might recognize him because of the shield he carries. It's kind of hard to miss.

He clears his throat and begins to speak. ]

I'm sure I've likely seen a lot of you at the recent coalition meeting - [ There's a mild expression on Steve's face, something very nearly unreadable - but he's very obviously not happy about it. ] - if not before that.

[ There's a pause. ]

And that's actually what I'm here to speak to you about. My name is Steve. I don't make a lot of network posts - [ This being his first, actually. ] - but I wanted to reach out to anyone who feels angry, frustrated and helpless from the kidnappings and everything that happened after. I want to start up a kind of self-defense class. A training club, if you will.

Sure, it might not change the future possibility of something like this happening again, but maybe it'll help some of you feel just a little more in-control of the situation. If anything, it's a good way to vent some of the frustration out. [ He shrugs a shoulder. ] I've found it helps me.

I've got a fair amount of experience in hand-to-hand combat myself but I could always use a little more practice. Anyone's welcome to join me. Anyone who can teach me a couple of things would be great too.

[ He figures having a couple of volunteer teachers alongside him would be beneficial for everyone involved. ]

I'd like to use this post to gauge interest and maybe set something up for the weekend. I'm usually training then, anyway.

[ Oh, it was a dead serious question, and honestly, he appreciates that Sheppard didn't think to mock it. ]

Did you get to use those skills a lot back on Ylisse?

[ Steve asks more for curiousity's sake than needing some kind of proof of experience. ]

I've gotta say, these Shepherds sound a lot like the Royal Guard here. Are you with the Guard?

Well, I didn't think I'd type them.

[ So .. there's another thing they clearly agree on.

Jesus. It's getting to be a little too agreeable up in here, and it's making Steve uncomfortable. ]

I haven't read a comic in years.

We'll see what everyone's working with but I wouldn't worry about that for now.

[ Just show up.

[This was weird. They hadn't agreed on anything since before HYDRA reveal, obviously. It was like getting back to basics. Weird.

Yeah, me either. I gave up after the twelfth bonfire. I hear Coulson had a full set of both cards and comics, but you know... died in the line of duty and all that.

Yeah, I agree. [she smiles at that] I had been training with Clary but since she's gone back into stasis— well, I know it's something she'd still want me to keep going practicing with too.

[He grits his teeth] ...That thing that happened that I'm not gonna talk about.

[If that's the case, then this exactly the sort of person who Ren needs to talk to and get information from. He can do this. He can do this without his team at his side.]

Nearby gym. [ And because there are a number of them in his neighbourhood alone ... ] I can send you the location.

They've seen better days, sure. But you can always promote a come-back.

Anyway, the future is here now, and I dunno - I've seen a fair amount of knives on the belts of the guard.

You're right though. A sword doesn't need a reload. Neither does a shield for that matter.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Seems like a lot of people are coming and going through stasis.

[ He pauses for a moment. ]

For our friends, we've gotta work to keep this place safe.

If there's a specific weapon you want to practice with, feel free to bring it along.

Otherwise, a comfortable pair of shoes and a good energy should suffice.
