[There's a long moment at the beginning where Renly attempts to gather himself together before he speaks. When he does, it's clear he's been crying for some time, eyes red, voice hoarse and tired.]

I know that many of you have lost loved ones in this recent incident. I have, as well. My dearest friend was taken, and I hope -- I choose to hope that he remains alive and well, as do all those who were taken along with him.

This is not a plea to those in charge of the kidnappings, but rather to those who remain behind with me. I swear to you on everything that I have. My name, my crown as much as it's worth here, my very soul itself. If you can find Loras Tyrell, I will forever be in your debt. There is nothing too great or too small that you could ask me that I would not do for you, if he is returned to me.

Thank you, and I wish, from the bottom of my heart, that all our loved ones will make it home safely.

You will not attempt to seek him out? I thought you a warrior who foolishly charged against men you could never hope to defeat.

[ once again, however, it had been a different Westeros. be that as it may, this is... not the best way to confront his younger brother. be that as it may, he has never been particularly good at it. after all, he had offered his Renly little comfort when they had to eat his favourite hound. ]

I will come to Wyver. You ought to have not chosen such a place to settle, though be that as it may, you remain my brother, different memories and experiences or not.

I am not the fighter you remember, Stannis. And I would thank you not to scold me during such a time.

I came to Wyver because it was where Loras was. Which means it is where I needed to be.

But... thank you. I will consider this an olive branch extended, and I accept it with my whole heart.

[ his jaw remains clenched, and his teeth move from side to side. it is still something that stings, different recollections or no. ]

Ned's girl has offered to pray for me. And for Loras. Sweet of her really, though I don't know that the Old Gods or New can hear her from here.

Are you going to sit and pray with me, brother? Or simply continue scolding me. Perhaps a lecture on how it was my fault Loras was taken?

You ought to know as well as I that prayers do little. The only true justice in the world is that which men make for themselves.

[ harsh words, yet he still cannot bring himself to soften them. ]

I will not give you false hope. Be that as it may, death is not truly permanent here for us, it would seem.

[ for Renly is not a child, and Stannis cannot lie to him. ]

Truly? [His tone drips sarcasm, and he even manages a small smile] I thought perhaps because your red witch had not purified me with fire that I was back to haunt you.

Considering both Loras and I were both dead before we arrived here, this fact does not surprise me.

If a man is given a sword, he uses it. I know not of the Westeros that you knew, or of the "Stannis" that you knew, but I have never placed much faith in gods. Be that as it may, the lady Melisandre had a sort of power. Not that it was enough to save Westeros, it would seem.

[ after all, when you witness your mother and father's death as a lad, believing in caring gods is a difficult pill to swallow. ]

You ought to return to the Station, when we are able to yet again. You will find many there that ought to be dead that still sleep. Including our lord father and lady mother.

[Something about his face softens a little, and he glances down and away, unsure how to take that news.]

I had seen Robert, but not our parents. Once Loras and the others are found, I will consider attempting the journey.

You were but a babe when they perished. [ or at least he was in Stannis's Westeros. ] If you would like, I can show you them.

[ it was a truce of sorts. ]

With the transportation to the Station closed, it may take me a day or so to arrive. When I get there, you will join me in searching for clues for Ser Loras's whereabouts. He is far from the only man that was taken.

I would... appreciate that, yes.

[And those military like orders come in and Renly sighs, rubbing his fingers in small circles against his temple. Signs of an oncoming headache] Will I, then?

I know little of the me you know, but I will tell you now I am all but useless in the field. I can talk to people, certainly, ask questions. But I am not a hunter, or a fighter. I would only be a detriment to any sort of effort that went that way. I worry I would do more harm than good.

[ it is an odd thing, to be sure. ]

Like our elder brother, you enjoyed your tourneys, ofttimes getting yourself knocked off horses by better men. [ a pause. as loathe as he is to admit it... ] Still, you were a better warrior than I in single combat.

[ Stannis is not unskilled with a blade, but his style of command lends itself far better to commanding from the rear. while he may be better than those not castle-trained, he was no Robert, or even Renly. ]

I hope that means you appreciated your histories more. As a young man, the Renly I knew was far more interested in tales of heroes than those who truly accomplished anything.

[ The Young Dragon, for example, when it was Oakenfist that truly won the day. ]

I know that someone working with the rescue groups is going around taking note of all those that may be assumed missing. If you place his name there I'm sure they'll be willing to keep an eye out for him.

I'm so sorry. It seemed so many of us have lost loved ones in the process of all this. I hope that he comes back safely as well as soon.

I will be sure to do this, thank you for your suggestion, and for your condolences. I hope you haven't suffered the same fate.

Unfortunately the case.

A close friend, perhaps something more. Looking back at it all though it's all unnecessarily complicated considering the current situation we were all thrown into.

I suppose, if anything, situations like this really put the little things into context for what they are.

How long have you known your friend?

[ she hides her surprise and horror at the news, responding only when she can keep control of her voice — she had counted the Tyrells her friends in Westeros, even if it was because of them that she had been thought to have a part in Joffrey's murder, and though she had been far closer with Margaery than Loras, she still cares for him and has decided to look after him the best she can, here, now with Margaery gone. and so the thought of Loras, who had already been through too much, having been kidnapped... it's painful, but so is seeing Renly suffer so much. ]

I am so sorry, my lord. I wish I could join the search parties, but I fear I would be rather more a hindrance than help. Jon is out there, as are many others I trust. They will find Ser Loras, I'm sure of it, and you shall be reunited once more.

But as we wait, I will pray for his well-being and safe return. [ for what good it might do... but it's all she can do. ]

This is why I have not volunteered myself. I do not trust that emotions would get in the way, and that I would be able to be helpful.

Then you are smarter than most, my lord, for not many would admit to their feelings capable of being a hindrance.

[ and so most would not be able to make the smart decision, should they come across those who took the hostages. ]

Is there anything I can do for you? My mother used to say that in times of crisis, one should keep busy.

[It's a few days later, frantic rescue efforts underway across both cities. Enjolras had ignored the post at first, too busy with his own agenda to have time to scorn kings who won't rescue their own friends.

Except that now drunkard, good-for-nothing Grantaire has been caught up in it all. There's no answer when Enjolras calls. Something like ice has lodged itself in his gut and will not shift. He's restless, pacing his rooms, checking for any news-- checking old news as well.

Eventually he can't contain it. Something has to break.]

Sending others to do something you won't do yourself. How like a king. [This isn't the Enjolras who last spoke with Renly. He looks tired, stressed, and instead of the cold accusation he'd like to project, he sounds worried.]

I sent no one. All who are searching volunteered for the position. I cannot --

[He pauses and swallows hard, swiping at his eyes] Loras is my most beloved friend. I worried that I would ruin any attempts to rescue anyone at all by letting my emotions rule me.

From the look in your eyes, you seem to be in the same place.

[It's almost an insult- this king comparing his position (the loss of a most beloved friend) to the loss of Grantaire. He clucks his tongue dismissively.]

No friend of mine has been captured, monsieur.

[Kale can pick up on the telltale signs of tears easily enough, and she wants to help. In fact, a number of the fighting ring regulars, including herself, were approached by the Knightryders to help.]

Um...I was going to join in the search. Do you have something of his? I've got a really good nose. Like a dog's. Maybe I could track him?

I could, perhaps, send along a scrap of cloth that holds his scent, if you think it would be helpful.

are you sure it's a good idea to be putting a name out there like that
that's a lot of people you just told you'd do anything for this guy
might put a target on his back in the future

[Or someone seeking out this person to rescue now for less than noble reasons. Maybe even hold captive themselves for ransom, if they wanted.]

[It takes him a little while to answer; he'd chosen to do a video because speaking to a device seemed easier than all the tapping. But if this is this person's preferred mode of communication, Renly will go along with it.]

I had not thought of that, no. Perhaps I acted rashly, but I was, and am, desperate to have him back.
I can only hope that my actions have not put him in any danger.

It's vexing. [The young woman with the fair hair seems... collected, but frustrated.] None of the spells I'd normally use to locate people are working. There's something about being in a foreign world interfering with the magic.

I don't intend to give up either, though. I hope you can be reunited with your friend soon enough.

I normally do not hold with magic, but if it is being used to help others, then I thank you for your efforts.

[The tiniest hint of a sigh.] That's not an uncommon view, as it happens.

But it's something that I can do, and it's quite useful-- [Normally.] --so I intend to make the most of my abilities. Those with power should help those without, should they not?

Loras is missing too? [ Damn. Steve likes that kid. ] I'm sure he'll be returned to you safely. There are skilled and determined people looking for him and the others.

Are you a friend of his? I'll confess, I have not met all his companions yet. I was still settling in from my arrival when this happened.

I know there are, and I wish I could be of more help to them.

I'd consider him a friend, yes.

If you love Loras, I think he'd prefer it if you didn't endanger yourself by doing more. So just stay safe.
