I dearly hope everyone is safe after the turmoil in Olympia.
Wyver too, I've heard, though I was fortunate enough to not to experience it myself.

Does anyone else find it odd? That tensions were suddenly inflamed in such a way. Normal people turning violent.
Or the refugees ourselves having our own aggressive tendencies reinforced and heightened.

It's hard to believe that all of this is entirely natural, or the result of simple historical tensions.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? Something that has this sort of aggressive effect on the populace?

I hope I never encounter that society.
Were that the case, though, wouldn't we have seen something like this before? Indications that this was the case?
From what I can tell, this is the first time it's happened here.

And boring days aren't *that* few and far between here.

We've only been here less than a year. And before that, Wyver and Olympia had their borders closed- this tense business has been building since that virus thing.

True, but this wasn't necessarily targeted at the opposing power. (Though that does seem to have been an emotional impetus).
These were Olympians and Wyverians attacking their own cities.
Why?
I don't think heightened emotions can bear the entire blame.

So what's your take on it? Some big conspiracy?

Well, consider the facts. An (effective) attack was launched simultaneously in both city states, causing damage to the cities and the populace and stirring up directionless, unfocused anger. Is it: A) A coincidence? (Unlikely. Too much would have to happen to make this a reality). B) The work of the ruling powers? (More likely, but that implies some sort of collusion between the two powers-- and it is rather obvious, given the timing). C) The work of a third party, or parties, hoping to undermine the current order for reasons unknown? I think C is the most likely bet. And if not one group, groups that are coordinating.

See? This is why I don't get involved in politics. If I'm gonna deal with backbiting and bitching, I'm gonna take it from the people who aren't pretending to be honest citizens.

If my reason is correct, though, it wouldn't be the politicians at fault.
It'd be another group or groups.

Who aren't any less duplicitous, mind you.

Yeah, but they care too much about the politics of this stupid planet to not leave well enough alone. I don't like the governments of either place much myself,
but I stay in my frickin' lane.

In all fairness, we're refugees. They're natives. (Presumably.) It's understandable that they'd have more connection to this place than you or I would.

The Celestials just had to pick a planet where everyone was fighting each other.

Guess it could be a boring planet.

If we're being asked to deal with this Storm when all is said and done, I would have infinitely preferred a planet without these distractions.

Maybe they'll just wipe each other out.

[Maybe the Storm was just the idiots who killed each other along the way.]

Perhaps. That's a little horrifying to think about, but perhaps. I certainly hope we could avert an outcome like that.
