I dearly hope everyone is safe after the turmoil in Olympia.
Wyver too, I've heard, though I was fortunate enough to not to experience it myself.

Does anyone else find it odd? That tensions were suddenly inflamed in such a way. Normal people turning violent.
Or the refugees ourselves having our own aggressive tendencies reinforced and heightened.

It's hard to believe that all of this is entirely natural, or the result of simple historical tensions.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? Something that has this sort of aggressive effect on the populace?

before the storm blew up my world, some of us "inherently violent" types were dealing with the fallout of riots by Normal People who saw a video of a guy beating a woman to death in public cause this one fucker found a way to beat the system
the second Normal People stop feeling like being Normal will keep them safe, they'll be just as happy to rip each other's throats out as the rest of us gutter trash

Emotions can be manipulated, after all. But most people won't turn to violence for no reason.

i don't know much of the science behind them, or anything
just that our tech developed enough to be able to give a whole complex report on a person's brain and how stable or stressed they are and their likelihood of criminal activity

And I do not believe it could have been that simple. Your perception is limited to that of a single man. They may have been instigated by something else. In my experience, similar riots were caused, not spontaneous. That seems horrifically invasive.

i didn't say it was spontaneous, i said they needed an excuse
the terrorists that planned the whole thing out gave them one by distributing helmets that could bypass the scans

people had gotten complacent, see
they figured with the sybil system keeping the trash off the streets before they could ever do anything, there was nobody left that could hurt them
maybe that meant a five-year-old gets carted off and locked up for the rest of their life every now and again
but that's a small price to pay for the perfect society, yeah?

I'm going to make a reasoned guess based on what I've seen and experienced myself, yes. The people where you come from can't be that different from people in other societies. Obviously, sociocultural tensions can be different from place to place. I will not stop believing that humanity is fundamentally good.
