So many here tell of their closeness to their siblings, to the great joy that their siblings bring them. I could not agree more with such sentiment, for the richness that my own bring me has always far outweighed any great burden they've put on me (and some have put burden upon me indeed!).

But, in that great sentiment, I must say that I have put off announcing my own brother has indeed left, and so any friend he may have had here, I ask you make yourself known to me. My brother is Edmund Pevensie, and I should like to thank you, and ask you be my friend too.

And, if you did not know him, I would say, then meet me for my own sake. I am long in introducing myself, and I feel quite badly for the delay. I am Lucy Pevensie, and most grateful to make your acquaintance.

You are certainly handling such separation better than I would be in your shoes.

It has been near to a month now. After such a time, I should hope that my grief is less overwhelming.

But I do not think such a thing is possible, and so I must pretend.

Ah. A friend of mine was afflicted with the VIOLET fevers and lapsed back into the strange slumber they maintain Upstairs around that same time.

It has been hard enough to bear for a friend. I do not think I could manage such pretence for my twin.

What a terrible thing! I was fevered, and I think if that was my last memory it would have been most cruel, but crueler still to those who were my friend.

I too was so affected, but I did not lapse into slumber. Well, not that kind. I suspect that my brother would have been beside himself if I had suffered such a fate on top of what I did go through.

[not to mention how Percy would have felt, knowing he had been a Patient Zero and Vex had fallen sick from interacting with him.]

It's not fair, but very little about these circumstances are fair. Do you at least have friends here to spend time with in his absence?

I am blessed with some friends. I hope you are, as well.

I am. I've been very lucky that way.

So, since you are stuck here still, and now you're better too, what things are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

Oh, so far, simply trying to learn as much as I can of those who live here.

As in fellow refugees? Or more the local Natives?

Learned anything interesting in particular?

Both, I think.

I have found my own world is so different from that of so many others.

[Hmm. That does seem to be a common sentiment. ]

In what way?

I think it is much more innocent in many ways.

That's an

interesting way of putting it, I guess. I don't know many places from home, or even here, that might fit that kind of description.

I do not think that such a horror such as what happened in the market would happen in Narnia.

I rather envy you that.

I rather envy myself, the person I was, before.

But we must persist, cheerful, as always.

Well, I don't know about that.

Sure, it's good to persist. But you can be angry about it if you want to be. That's healthy. Normal, even.

And what would that do?

It can be a great motivator. I've known people who've accomplished amazing things out of spite.

It's not like it has to last. But it doesn't hurt to let out frustrations in a controlled manner sometimes. I used to go into the woods and shoot my bow.

Do you have another one?

Bow? Or means of letting off steam?

Bow, I do mean.

I do. It's not a great bow, mind you, but if you've any experience with long bows it will certainly do for practice. Or learning, if you're not a good shot.

I'm quite a good shot, I should say. I would be most grateful if you would be generous with your weapons.

No need to be quite so formal, darling. I wouldn't have mentioned it if I wasn't willing to pass it on.
