Hello, everyone.

[ a little wave from a man who's smiling happily enough - a bit subdued, perhaps, but that's to be expected given the subject matter. ]

It's been a tough month, eh? I just wanted to say a huge well done to those of you who fought for a cure - it's extraordinary that you were able to create one in the time you did from entirely foreign components. I'm glad that our hosts are recognising the effort.

Everyone else, well done to you, too. Whatever you were doing, this has been a stressful situation and you made it out the other side, and that's worth a pat on the back if you ask me.

[ patron... ising??? it doesn't look like he's trying to be, voice soft and warm and earnest. what's visible of the background seems to be cool, stark metal: a glimpse of a glass window bathed in a glow of light coming from within. the ship. stasis chamber. ]

Off the back of that, if anyone fancies, I'll be offering free hugs for the rest of the month. Courtesy of me, while stocks last. Just give me a ring, I'll come and find you.

[Mipha smiles, as gentle as her voice was a moment before] Only a little. It's alright to ask for support too, especially in times like this.

We don't know each other, but I can offer one if you'd like.

That's kind of you. I'll gladly accept, so long as you're happy to receive one at the same time.

[ a mischievous quirk to his slightly muted smile: that's how hugs work, he knows it, but he's never been terribly good at being the centre of attention when he's at anything less than his best ]

— You're very beautiful, by the way. [ is that a weird thing to say before an anonymous hug meet up?? probably. he doesn't seem to notice. ] Do you mind if I ask your species?

I don't mind at all.

[She laughs, but is quickly flustered by his compliment, blushing and placing a hand against her cheek.] Thank you very much. [She's flattered, certainly, but also always happy to talk about her kind.]

We're called Zora. We're an aquatic species native of my home, Hyrule-- Well, I suppose we're more like amphibians. [Though she's not sure how she feels being compared to something like, say, a frog.] I'm afraid currently I'm the only one of my kind who's awakened, though my father and brother and several others are still sleeping in their pods. Actually, you might be able to find my father quite easily if you're there.

[She says it with a laugh in her voice and an amused expression, like it's some kind of joke. It sort of is, considering her father is Very Big.]

[ the Doctor listens, expression settling into one of pleased surprise to hear a name he can't match to the general look of the person he's speaking to - new is a rare-ish thing these days, and it's nice to come across it when you're not expecting to. ]

Why, have you graffiti-ed his pod?

[ a joke of his own: she really doesn't look the type. ]

[Miphl laughs despite herself and shakes her head.] No, nothing like that, but I suspect he's one of--if not the--largest pod in the room. The Zora royals have a tendency to get very, very large, and my father, as king, is no exception.

[So yeah the Princess Mipha username isn't just for show.] I worry that whenever he awakens ['when' not 'if'] he might have some trouble adjusting amon the people on the surface here....

[ if his entire face hasn't just lit up, then I can't tell you where else all this sudden sense of brightness has come from. a large amphibian father?? yes ]

Well, your Highness, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him. Both up here and towering over us all later on.

[She blushes a little and smiles sheepishly] Please, there's no need for formalities. I hardly have a kingdom anymore, the title is... nothing much more than that--a title.

[She bows her head politely though] I am simply Mipha now.

Sometimes titles are nice reminders of home.

[ in which case, he'll happily keep it alive for her. then again, sometimes home is something best not referenced so easily. he smiles, offers a nod of understanding and appreciation. ]

But if it's just Mipha, Mipha it shall be.

[ it's entirely up to her. her name, her choice. ]

I've heard the same thing from a couple of people. [Mipha shakes her head] There are people who find it comforting to have people around with those titles, titles of authority or power. I understand that, so... I won't throw it away entirely.

I just don't want people treating me differently because of it. I'm already different enough from the majority of the refugees without adding that to it. [But she's not t all bitter about it or anything, it's just a fact. She's very obviously not-human, but she smiles] I'm worried there will be a bigger distance.

I'd say it matters less what other people get from your title and more what you do. So if it isn't serving you, tuck it away. If it is? If it's a pleasant reminder? My name's the Doctor. [ and by now, to his friends, it's just that. a name. ] You'll be surprised what people can stop subscribing meaning to. Princess doesn't have to carry connotations - at least not once you've settled in amongst friends.

[She pauses a moment, then bows her head in acceptance.]

...Yes, you're right. I suppose it's been a long time since I've had to think much on it, but... Thank you. [It gives her something to reflect on.]

Oh. I've almost lost sight of what this conversation was about to begin with. [She laughs a little.] Shall I teleport up there now? To give you that hug. [A gentle smile, because nope she hasn't forgotten the original purpose here!!]

[ —ah. a startled little laugh from the Doctor, smile bright with surprise and muting slightly when he catches up to the kindness of it to settle into softer gratitude.

right. to give him that hug. ]

I'm free if you are.

do you wanna go to action?

[Mipha smiles back and bows her head in acceptance.] I have te time. I will be there shortly. You're in the stasis room, correct?

yeah!!!

Ah— [ not necessarily the best place for a hug. but, at the same time, there's a chance he might get to visit this mysterious gargantuan father of hers, so - ] Yes, that's right. I'll wait for you here.

[Another nod and she turns the communicator off. She'll arrive roughly 5 minutes later, looking for him.

When she spots him there's a moment of surprise, which she knows better than to think she's concealed from him. It was rather obvious. So with a slightly sheepish, shy smile, Mipha says:] You're a bit taller than I'd expected.

[He's so gangly!!] I hope I didn't keep you waiting long.

[ a grin!!! when she appears!! and he very nearly does miss her look of surprise, mostly because he's so busy being overwhelmed by how wonderful she is.

so when she calls him tall, he cracks out in a laugh, evidently overjoyed. ]

Not at all! I'm here anyway. Good to see you! Hello!

[ Calm Down Doctor. sorry, Mipha, he's advancing with gusto, his arms wide to offer her a customary Welcome Hug without even really thinking that the hug is the entire reason she's here. ]

[She looks surprised again by how overly eager he seems, but she steps up to meet him halfway, throwing her arms around him with a bright laugh.]

Is everyone like this where you're from? [From someone else it might've been an insult, but she's amused and smiling and honestly curious. Like look, maybe everyone's just super huggy affectionate people where he's from, she doesn't know!!]

[ yes!!! immediate hug reciprocation!!! does it get any better than this?! ]

No! Not even a little bit!

[ and that's delivered happily enough too, because apparently she's happy to jive with it, and that's enough for him! have a hearty super-speed one-handed mid-hug backrub to wrap up the greeting hug, and then he'll release her - but only enough to grasp her upper arms and g r i n at her some more. ]

Thanks for the speedy delivery! Anyone would think you're the free hug salesman of the two of us. I know I keep saying it, and it's probably very weird, but you're extraordinary.

[ she is!!! so very cool!!! ]

[Mipha laughs again, though there's a note of uncertainty to it. Is that...a good thing?? He said it so cheerfully, but it seems kind of sad that not everyone is this affectionate. It's not as though her people are known for that either, but they've also always been a little more enthusiastic and accepting of...most things.]

It is a little strange, yes, but not unwelcome. I don't think I've ever met someone so happy to meet me or one of my kind before. It's a nice change.
