[ poe smiles when the video clicks on, friendly more than cheerful, given everything that's been going on. his hair is more tousled even than usual, and there's some sweat making his skin shine. ]

I grew up on a planet covered in jungle. [ for a moment, his smile grows warmer, if a little wistful. ] I figure not everyone here did, so it might be useful to share some tips.

First of all, water and food. There's plenty of both, but you gotta be careful. Best bet is to boil the water if it looks dingy, sometimes even if it doesn't. Stick to plants you know or someone's told you are safe for gathering those. If you're hunting, best avoid animals that are very colorful.

If you see a large animal and you're not actively hunting it and prepared to kill it, your best bet is probably to back away quietly and slowly. Oh, and watch out for insects. We don't know how many species here may be poisonous or carrying disease.

[ a beat, and his expression turns regretful. ] The last thing we need is for more people to get sick.

There's plenty civilization here. Unless you know how to handle yourself, maybe just stay in the city. But if you do find yourself in the jungle, be careful, all right?


( ooc: poe did grow up in the jungle, i know nothing about jungle living, so if anything is obviously wrong, please point it out to me and assume poe wouldn't have made stupid mistakes, ty )

That sounds easy, but they're very small and I'm assuming they don't listen to reason. And tucking my pants into my socks isn't reasonable at all.

How's tucking your pants into your socks not reasonable?

[ poe thinks for a moment. ] Long pants and high socks will also do the trick.

[priorly]

Reasonable if you're a trencherman maybe. Tell me your pants remain untucked? You have a fine face, it would be such a shame to let it down at the other end.

[xwings]

[ poe actually glances down at himself before answering, with a — slightly confused, admittedly — wince: ]

Sorry, buddy.

[priorly]

[Prior gives a dramatic little shiver - and a sigh. He's teasing, of course.]

Keep the camera above the shoulders.

[xwings]

[ poe laughs. ]

What if I don't?

[priorly]

Then I could end up with less of a crush.

[Now maybe he's hitting on you. It's light though, just teasing really.]

[xwings]

I really don't think it's that bad.

[ he looks good with his pants tucked into his boots, even if that's not quite the outfit he's wearing. close enough. and yes, he did just pan down with the camera. ]

[priorly]

[And that ensemble's nothing to complain about. However Prior does have an issue to take.]

You said into your socks . I was picturing some kind of sandal-based atrocity - this is cheating.

[xwings]

So you agree.

[ a little gleeful? you bet. ] They're also tucked into my socks.

[priorly]

[Mouth open, he raises a warning finger. Look. ]

That doesn't count either! We can't agree when we were talking about two different things. Anyway. [He pans the camera down tailored slacks to a neat pair of loafers]

You may have kinky jungle boots, we lesser creatures do not.

[xwings]

That's another piece of advise. Get boots.

[ but also!! ] Kinky?

[priorly]

I would, but the heels might get caught in the undergrowth.

Aren't they?

[xwings]

Why would you wear heels in the jungle? [ that's just. a big no-no right there, buddy.

also, with a frown, though odds are he actually knows how what he's about to say could be construed: ] They're for work. [ were. he arrived in them. ]

[priorly]

Well nobody told me where I was dressing for when I packed. [Prior clutches at his collar in faux offence. He's not actually wearing heels out here. Or at home, although he should try to pick a pair up, really.]

What work do you do?

[xwings]

[ that question is more complicated than it seems. ] Here, I'm just helping out in a shop. In Olympia, I was a bartender. But really, I'm a pilot. That's where the boots are from.

[priorly]

Well you certainly sound industrious. A pilot? I guess that one's out while we're down here, right?

I really should find some form of occupation, myself.

[xwings]

Yeah, pretty much.

[ and boy does he hate it. he's a flyboy through and through, being grounded doesn't help him feel any better about anything. ] Though I go to the station sometimes and take one of their mobile suits for a spin just to get some flight hours in.

Anything you have in mind?

[priorly]

Well, they must have those for a reason. Maybe they're building a fleet? God knows I'd rather travel by plane than carriage again.

[Prior sighs and settles back.]

Me? Not a clue.

[xwings]

If they're building a fleet with those, it's for space combat more than travel.

[priorly]

Isn't that possible?

[xwings]

It definitely is.

[priorly]

Then maybe people should know how to fly them. I know there's this whole Olympia/Wyver thing everyone's worried about, but there could be war in heaven as easily as down here. [He looks distant a moment, pauses, and then pulls himself back with an effort to find a smile.]

But that's hardly the cheeriest topic. I used to arrange parties - when the trust fund was running low. Planned club nights and events for the rich and fabulous - their money, my style. So, you see why our taste in boots tends to differ.

[xwings]

There could be. [ and poe hates war, but he loves flying. it's an odd thing, to be torn between those two. he knows that he'd give up flying if it meant peace, but — he'd be giving up a large part of himself. ]

I'm guessing your idea of a party isn't just a few beers in the cantina.
