Maybe this is a bad time?
[When Dylas starts the audio feed, he’s already not sure if he wants to do this. What a follows is a long sigh before he actually begins speaking in earnest.]
Hey. I know everyone’s sick. It’s pretty bad. I’m sure you all know some of the symptoms, but maybe you guys have been feeling something else, too? Something happened to me last month. Er, has been...happening.
[There’s a long, uncomfortable pause. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.]
I mean, maybe your body is changing. Doing things it couldn’t before. Maybe...being more sensitive. Maybe you’re noticing something different about yourself that you didn’t before? Something that doesn’t line up with the symptoms? If that happens, you should talk to the Orbiters. [Another pause. Ugh. He hates doing this, seriously.] They can apparently change our bodies without asking. They, uh. Can give us things that weren’t there before.
[He’s clearly not wanting to go into any details. Or maybe it’s not clear. He’s just this deep, masculine voice who sounds sort of confused about how to address large groups.]
So if you start feeling weird outside of the sickness or weren’t sick before, it might be that your body is going through new changes.
[Another long pause.]
It’s not puberty. I’ve already done that.

Well, it's a good thing you had some help while you were there. Even if it didn't really work out all that well, in the end...
[ because he's nice??? do you even people, dylas. ]
no subject
It's all in the past. I hadn't thought about it much since, but I guess looking back on things Keith wasn't completely unhelpful.
[Maybe he was a bit too rude to Keith, even? Dylas feels a little bad now.]
no subject
wait. ]
Eh, he doesn't tend to have the best bedside manner... [ meaning maybe keith had been a little rude in turn? who's to say. lance wouldn't be surprised, even if he does love the guy, smh. ] But I can say, 100%, that even if it doesn't really seem like it, he's always trying to help out.
no subject
You think really highly of him. I guess that's not surprising. [He's never thought this way. Ever. But Dylas is a little jealous. He wonders if anyone has ever had this much faith in him before.] I should probably clear up the whole pants thing, huh?
no subject
I mean... if you want to. [ there is a pointed pause. they seem to have settled into a fairly cordial conversation now, and lance is not entirely in any rush to ruin it.
still... ]
I know I'd appreciate it.
no subject
[Or more accurately, he grabbed onto Keith's pants?]
If you tell anyone else this story, I'll track you down and do the same thing to you.
[He has to cover all his bases here.]

and then he's sputtering out a loud laugh, the kind that sounds like you'd be doubling over, tears in your eyes.
by the time he finally gets a hold of himself, the laughter is sill lingering in his tone. ]
Oh man... Oh man, that is priceless. [ he's gonna make SO much fun of keith. thank you for this gift, dylas. :')
he kinda has to snort at the guy's threat though. ]
Dude, if you think a little pantsing is gonna faze me, you got another thing coming. I'm the youngest of four, okay. I've been put through worse.
But don't worry, man. Your secret's safe with me.
[ never mind that this is, you know. a public network. but what does lance even know about that?? pfft. ]
no subject
Naturally, when Dylas' voice returns, he does not sound happy.]
You weren't supposed to laugh, either! I was telling you that for your own peace of mind!
[He scoffs. Disgusting. Red Lance and Blue Keith deserve each other, they're both a pain.]
And don't worry about that. I can do worse. [That Lance agrees to keep it a secret does appease Dylas slightly, at least.] Don't make me show you how...worse...I am!
no subject
I get it, I get it... Thanks, man.
[ a pause. ]
Hey — I never got your name.
no subject
[He's pretty sure he's supposed to be thanking Lance, too, so 'whatever' is a great way of summing up an exchange of gratitude and his personality.]
It's Dylas. And you're...?
no subject
Lance. Nice to meetcha, Dylas. Good luck with your, uh. New powers...
no subject
Yeah. You, too. [Wait.] I mean, not good luck with your new powers. Unless you have them. Just...yeah. Nice to meet you.
[#NailedIt]

Yeah, I figured.
