video - A plea from a knight
[The video opens to a familiar older man. It's the one from before that was talking about his armor. He looks worried and also utterly serious]
Hello. I know things are really bad right now, but I need to ask for a favor. There were people listed. Solder 76. Ana Amari. Jesse McCree. They have been labeled terrorists. But I swear to you on my honor as a knight that they are innocent. I've known them for years. I know the measure of their character. This thing...they would not have done this. It must be a misunderstanding. So please don't try and harm them. I know they are good people and this is all a mistake.
I tried to get into contact with them but they aren't answering me. I am aware that others will be looking for them. So I just want you to give them this message from me if you see them.
Tell them Reinhardt believes in them. If you see them, tell them that running will only make them seem guilty and that I know they aren't. I know that in my heart. If they turn themselves in, I am sure that their side will be heard and that justice will weigh heavy on their sides. On the side of truth.
And tell them that no matter what, I am on their side. I believe in them and that they'll do the right thing.
Thank you.

If I happen to see them, I'll see what I can do about relaying your message, Reinhardt.

When he talks, his German accent is even more heavy than usual. It's the stress.]
This may be true, but you can't fight beside a person for almost 25 years and not know them. I know they would never harm innocent civilians. That was never what they were about.
So I thank you, Father, for being so kind as to pass my message on should you see them.

But he notes the accent is much thicker now and can only imagine it is due to the worry he must have over his comrades. Kirei says nothing about spending more than two decades with a person and not knowing them. His father never fully understood him, but he is well aware that not everyone is like he is. Most people are understood by others after years of knowing one another. ]
They would never intentionally harm innocent civilians. But what about unintentionally? I believe in their innocence in that they would not be part of anything purposely. Yes, I take back my earlier comment because it came from an untrue place. [ A beat. ] It came from a place that is not a priest but someone upset by the events that had happened. As such, a sharp response came first.
You are welcome. However, you are wrong. It is not kindness that would pass a message on, but only what is right. Your faith in them may cause them pain, because if this was not their own actions... while you stand with them, you may suffer due to that connection. [ Will that actually happen? He has no clue. He doubts it. Reinhardt's words are those wrapped in honor and goodwill. But he cannot help but add a spice of misery to someone already suffering. ]
They may end up asking you to abandon them. Even though you say you will always stand with them, if they ask you to do so, could you leave them?

That is right. They would never hurt civilians in such a way. It goes against everything they believed. It could be unintentional or it could be a framing all together. Blaming strangers instead of looking for who and what might actually be behind this. Someone must truly hate this place and these people to do such a horrific thing. We must ask, who would want this to have happened.
[ There is a small soft sound. Almost like for a moment, he's choking on something. Like he's fighting against a deep, gut-wrenching hurt. ]
They could ask that of me. But I will not abandon them. I refuse. I am their shield and I will fight for them, to my last breath if I have to. So even if I suffer for it, even if I might bring trouble on myself, so be it. I made them a promise and a knight never ever goes back on his vows. Even if they abandon me again, I will never not fight for them.

[ And he has to be somewhat careful how he goes about in finding out. ]
I see. You are a true and honest knight. You may end up more battered by the time that this is all over, Reinhardt. But I will willingly listen to any and all concerns that you have. I shall hope that keeps doubt and anxiety off of your shoulders. After all, as a priest, if I allowed someone to leave me with a troubled mind... that would be a crime.
