[Atsushi likes his life on the planet, but now that he's on Thesa to help the people waking up, he doesn't mind spending the night. Or, rather: between all the simulations and the free food, he got so tired, he didn't even think to go home.

He wasn't expecting to wake up to a surprise next to his bed.]

I need help! No - some advice would do...

[At first, the video just shows a very panicky Atsushi, but the view shakily shifts to the bed, where an egg lies, the blankets carefully wrapped around its base so it won't roll off. It's not just any egg, either: it's huge, the size of Atsushi's arm.]

S-Sorry, I'm aware that this is a busy time for everyone, but... [The camera remains shaky, as does his voice.] I don't know what to do? This egg was next to me when I woke up, and... it's not very loud, but there's definitely a heartbeat inside of it.

If it was a chicken egg, I'd know what to do! And I'm sure that this egg just needs warmth and safety too, but... I have a job, now! I can't stay here. For that matter: even if I went home, I couldn't spend all day and all night keeping an egg warm... and I can't carry around something so big and expect to keep it safe...

... but I can't let it die.

[That comes before everything else, even his job that he's desperate to keep. It doesn't matter that he basically works on commission; he'd feel terrible if he didn't regularly check in to see if there's anything he can do. But now he's suddenly an egg mom dad on top of everything... This is too much responsibility all at once!]

I wonder if... maybe someone could babysit sometimes??

I live with her. [ More like she decided that Mikazuki can't be trusted on his own WHICH IS PARTIALLY CORRECT and instated herself as his roommate, but who's counting. ] This is probably the kind of thing she'd like...

[Living with a girl... How scandalous! It reminds Atsushi of him and Kyouka, though, and that makes him a little happy on Mikazuki's behalf.]

Well, if she'd like to look after it, she definitely should! It's probably better not to move the egg too much, anyway. But if she ever needs a break, just let me know, okay?

Yeah, I will. I was thinking trading might not be so bad if we work opposite times.

That's a great idea! If I can just take the egg along, I will, but sometimes it will be too dangerous or I'll be away too long to keep it properly warm.

... But Atsushi is going to allow babysitting literally once or twice before giving up on it altogether, because he frets too much when he's away from the egg. He's a no-chill mom.]

It's the same for me. Nothing's happened doing guardwork so far, but it'd be difficult to take along if I needed to fight...

[ And apprehending a criminal with an egg on his person sounds really inconvenient. ]

... Please don't take it along for something so dangerous. [Sweats.] I'll be happy to babysit!

[ AS EVIDENCED HERE. Even the mighty Devil of Tekkadan has limits. ]

So during the day is fine for me to have them. My body runs warm anyway, if that's what they need.

[ Good for... egg-sitting? ]

That's your reason..?!

[Well, whatever. Any reason would do, as long as it has the desired effect!]

I don't know if it's enough by itself, but it's certainly a good start. I'll try to find some good blankets at the market! And maybe some heat packs, or something like that..?

[ The simplest reasons are usually the most effective, Sushi. Still, an impressed noise rolls in his throat. ]

All that won't make it too hot?

... I don't know. [Siiigh, he has no idea, why didn't someone clue him in about this before dropping an egg in his lap?!] But eggs usually have to be pretty hot before they hatch.

We'll have to experiment. And listen to their heartbeat to make sure it stays stable!

[ He nods, thoughtful. ]

I still feel it now. [ A glance towards the egg still sitting quaintly against his middle. ] That thump-thump.

[ Maybe it likes bodyheat, even if his is mostly generated by nanomachines. He's a small furnace. ]

[Furnaces are pretty darn good, for humans and eggs alike.]

That's good! If it gets faster or slower, something could be wrong, so we'll have to keep an eye on that.

[It's one thing to know that; it's a lot easier to believe it's doable when explaining it to Mikazuki.]

[ Atsushi makes it sound convincing enough to where Mikazuki is now obediently following his guidance along. He almost looks a little... enthralled? At the fact that it's really alive. ]

[Atsushi feels the same, really: it's amazing to think that something is alive in there. Well, that's also the scary part...]
