[Alex is sitting somewhere, and she's got a mug of coffee in front of her, along with a note pad and a pen. She smiles, but there's an undercurrent of nervousness in it because while multiple people have told her she could be on television, Alex's preferred medium has always been radio and podcasts. She's not quite sure what to do with her hands (they'd normally be on the control box) when she speaks so she picks up a pen and rolls it between her fingers.]
Hi! Um. Like a lot of you I'm a [kidnapee?] refugee and I need to find a job. Back home I worked as a reporter, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to use my skills doing the same thing here. I'd give you some references but I'm afraid that they probably wouldn't do you any good anyway now. [And she doesn't want to explain either what a podcast is, or how hers won a best of Apple award in 2015. So for now just a reporter will work.]
But my name is Alex Reagan and I've been working in the business since college, so I've got a fair amount experience. Thanks?
[Stupid camera, stupid being uncomfortable on camera, and Alex just turns it off with little preamble.]

[Alex points briefly to the text function and then smiles.]
About possibly coming up with a paper for the displaced. It'd be a great idea to share job postings and stuff about employers there, as well as the rest of the news and what people have discovered about the storm and the like.
[Which is what her and Strand are investigating now.]

[As long as it's in that manner. Anything that gives him a good excuse to get introduced to high society early on is a-ok with him.]

I would say that definitely counts. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name.

[He's assuming it's Miss, but he's just using that to be polite rather than calling her by first name without being invited to.]
Being able to place names to faces is useful in my line of work, too. I understand completely.

[She smiles, and decides she's not getting into the whole 'Ms.' thing right now, because it's just too much to go there when Alex works fine.]
I'm glad you understand. Thank you.
[Alex means it.]

[Much simpler to be on a first name basis. There are plenty of people who don't even use surnames where he's from, himself included.]
How long have you been a reporter?

[And now she may have doomed her world. Whoops.]
