The Aqours Spooky Get Yohane Magical Powers Halloween Extravaganza is later this week! Fallen Angel Yohane and Little Demon You have put together a wonderful Halloween party, at [ insert ic date here ] and located at [ insert address to a restaurant in Olympia here. ] There'll be spooky snacks, spooky ambiance, and all the perfect Halloween party games! Bobbing for apples, carving pumpkins, one of those 'reach your hand in and feel the eyeballs' sort of boxes...we're gonna hit all the highlights!

You-chan and I did a really good job with the decorations and getting this place perfectly spooky, so at least stop by to take a look at everything. That being said, if anybody wants to donate some pumpkins or some food or anything like that, we won't say no! [ pause ] Oh, and the place is letting us use their event room on the promise that they'll make a lot in drink sales, so everybody's gotta order a drink, okay? You can get...I don't know, mozzarella sticks if you don't drink. Those are Yohane approved!

[ to her credit, Yoshiko's trying REAL HARD to understand what the problem is. She just doesn't know about the whole goblin everything. ]

[Isn't that the million dollar question?]

...Goblins aren't good people. They're nasty things. They steal children from their beds and cook them in stews. I once saw one of my clan cut out someone's tongue for pronouncing his name wrong. My clan had a torture wagon, where they kept halflings and hurt them for fun and information on how they could torture more halflings. They're as... We're as terrible as we look.

[hellzone]

[ That's...a lot. There's a long pause as Yoshiko tries to grapple Nott's everything with her always chaotic evil race. ]

But you're not like that. You're not terrible. [ right? ]

[flask]

...No. I'm not.

[There are parts of her that are still unmistakably a result of her surroundings growing up—her fearful nature, her kleptomania, other little things—but Nott is far from alike any of her clan and she's well aware of it. Has always been well aware of how she never quite fit.

An accident of birth, maybe. She never thought too closely on it, only that she desperately didn't want to be part of the clan.]

I don't like... looking in the mirror, seeing myself looking like them. They're awful.

I know that you're the only goblin that I've met. But...considering that you're kind and nice and don't—don't torture people, I just can't believe that all goblins are like how you describe them.

[ there's a small pause before she clarifies. ]

I mean, maybe most of 'em. But not all of them.

[flask]

[Yohane isn't the first person to make this argument to her since she woke up. Nott folds her arms and looks away.]

If your drink's only 75% poison, that's enough reason not to drink it. But trust me, it's at least 99%.

[hellzone]

But if it's 25% strawberry ramune, then you might consider giving it a shot.

[ a pause, before. ]

Strawberry ramune's a type of really good soda, by the way. I dunno if they have it in your world.

[flask]

It would still have poison in it!

[Nott groans.]

And I don't know what soda is, but I wouldn't even drink it if it was whiskey and poison.

...The point is, it's better to be safe than sorry. That's why I don't fault people if they don't trust me.

Well I trust you. And I don't care what you say, not all goblins are evil and jerks. Cause that would mean you'd be like that and you obviously aren't.

[flask]

[Nott's face softens a bit.]

Well. I trust you, too.

[She doesn't address the rest. She'd rather not argue in circles with Yohane.]

Good. [ there's an awkward pause before Yoshiko admits... ]

Erm...since you told me that you were a goblin and not a halfling, there's probably something I should tell you too, Pit-chan. I'm not really a fallen angel. I just pretend to be one because I thought it would explain how unlucky I am.

[flask]

[Nott frowns, but not in betrayal. More in confusion.]

Oh. So are you just... a human, then?

[hellzone]

I am. I started pretending to be a fallen angel when I was younger, and now it's just kind of hard to stop. But when I came out of stasis, I thought 'well, everybody here's a bunch of weirdos, I might as well keep doing it.'

[flask]

[Nott looks thoughtful. Yeah, yup, sounds legit. Makes sense.

And then she smiles.]

Maybe you can ask the Natha to turn you into a real fallen angel too, then.

[hellzone]

[ ..........mmmmmaybe not. ]

I'm working on getting magic powers first. I think I'm gonna just take baby steps with this thing.

[flask]

Right, of course! Your bard spells! What kind of spells are you trying to learn?

[hellzone]

I'm thinking something that can keep people safe. You-chan's already got cool magic that can help heal people, but it's no good if people can get at her while she's singing.

[flask]

Oh, like Mage Armor. Caleb's got something like that, maybe he can teach you.

[hellzone]

Is that just like...a magical suit of armor or something?

[flask]

Not really? It's a spell, but it doesn't conjure up any physical armor. It's like a forcefield around you or a person you touch that gives another barrier to anything that tries to attack.

[hellzone]

Huh! That'd actually be pretty useful! I should bother Caleb about it.

[ rip wizard ]

Yes! He's an excellent teacher. I've even learned a few spells from him! Well, one.

So if you're ever falling off a cliff or into a pit or something... I'm your girl.

Is your spell a stop you from falling spell?

[flask]

It's called Featherfall, and it makes you fall really slowly so you don't get hurt. Like a feather.
