If it's not for convenience, what is your criteria for compromise? ( it's not necessarily about creating problems for herself, but she still considers it: would she have fewer problems if she could always compromise with herself? if she were able to ignore her own moral guidance? no, probably not: because, ultimately, she would end up doing more things she regretted, and only cause more problems for herself in the long run. ) There isn't anything noble about it--it's just a profession. There are plenty of doctors who aren't 'noble'.
