[The video starts with a shot of the invitation that she'd received, the writing bold and clear before she tosses the invite down and directs the camera up to her face, which looks entirely unimpressed.]

Tell me I'm not the only one that feels like this is some lame attempt to gather certain people into a specific area for an unknown reason, aka, a fucking trap?

[Someone was feeling especially incapable of trusting anyone from this world or any of the Orbiters. She held up the ring she'd gotten, not wearing it, but showing it.]

And as far as some kind of... compensation for the shit some people went through, this feels pretty weak to me. An invite to a trap-party, a gold coin, and a pretty little bauble, because clearly I'm that easily distracted and easy to appease. They realize that people died during this, don't they? And we're all supposed to just slap a smile on, pull out a dress, and go along with this like this isn't a giant fucking joke?

[There was a look on her face like she was really, really hoping someone would be as salty as she was over this.]

Maybe it's just in my nature to think everyone's out to screw me over, but when I've already been screwed over, and not in the fun way, I'm not exactly feeling inclined to bend over for round two. There have to be other people that think this is shady shit...

If only one group's involved, sure. But nothing's ever tied that neatly with a bow. We have the overlords up high that have us by the short curlies, telling us to play nice 'or else'. I have people that 'or else' can affect, so I've been trying to play along. I sure as shit haven't been kissing royal ass or any other appendage, so whoever decided to snag me and try to get information out of me wasn't playing the right game.

Which makes you wonder how many groups are paying attention to what, and what the goal of it all is. There's shit going on. There's people that want a war. I can't think of anyone that got nabbed that was pro-royal butt patting. So why us? And if the royal fuckwits are getting involved now, why? Who are they hoping to appease by suddenly saying that the outcasts are now welcome, here's a gold coin and a pretty thing, la la, it's all great?

I don't know.

But we're not going to get answers to any of those questions if we do nothing. The rulers are involved because they must — they can't afford to stand back, when it would look bad in front of the locals, their subjects. The gesture may be more for them than for us. A show that they care.

[ her tone makes it clear she believes exactly none of it. ]

[Jessica couldn't exactly argue with the words or the tone. Maybe the scale was different back where she'd come from, but it was all the same. People from on high giving lip service to try to make up for the fact that they had nothing else to offer other than 'thoughts and prayers'. Thank you, but no.]

I'm not entirely sure I'd trust a word that came out of their mouths.

But if they're lying, then even that is a clue to what they're lying about. Besides, Her Grace got one of those invitations, and I promised to go with her.

I thought the Queen was the one holding the shindig. Why does she need an invitation?

[Jessica hadn't quite fallen in line with thinking that most of the people who wound up here were anything more than victims waiting to be victimized. She laughed at the idea of tiny men calling themselves 'emperors', and ladies claiming a crown to a land that no longer existed.]
